As you claim new regions on the map, you unlock the potential to build more villages and establish trade routes between them. Unfortunately, claiming a region costs a hefty amount of Influence, typically 1,000 for unclaimed regions and 2,000 for those controlled by other lords. While the Medieval era is a common setting for video games, it’s not often that those games offer co-op. These games are the exception to that rule.

How To Get Influence

Currently, there are only a few ways to gain Influence in Manor Lords.

Increasing The Settlement Level

Increasing your settlement level is a surefire way of getting Development points as well as Influence which can help you acquire new regions. To increase your settlement level, you need to build and level up lots of Burgage Plots. These are essentially houses where your citizens will live. Each Burgage Plot has a list of requirements you need to fulfill before you can upgrade it.

Building Manors And Upgrading Churches

Building your first Manor in a newly claimed region is a decent way to get up to 200 Influence. Keep in mind that this is a one-time reward and subsequent Manors won’t offer additional Influence.

Similarly, you can instantly get 250 Influence when you upgrade a Small Wooden Church to a Small Stone Church for the first time.

While building Manors and upgrading Churches isn’t a reliable way of farming Influence, it quickly provides nearly a quarter of the 1,000 Influence required to claim a new territory.

Implementing A Tithe

Once you’ve built a manor, you can select it and navigate to the “Taxes” tab to set up different monthly taxation options or implement a “Tithe.” A Tithe exchanges a percentage of your surplus food for Influence. The more food you produce in a month, the more Influence you will gain.

A Tithe only brings in a little amount of Influence but is worth considering when you have a surplus of food.

Conquering Bandit Camps And Defeating Brigands

The best way to gain Influence when you’re starting out in Manor Lords is by conquering Bandit Camps and defeating Bandits in battle. The amount of Influence earned depends on how many Bandits you defeat. Generally, you get 20 Influence per Bandit, totaling 120 to 350 Influence per camp.

It’s recommended to hire mercenaries to deal with the Bandits so that you don’t risk your village’s Population.

How To Claim a Region

Once you’ve earned enough Influence, you can finally claim a new region. The process of claiming land is pretty simple:

  • Open the Manor Lords map and zoom out.
  • Select the region you wish to claim.
  • Click on “Claim With Influence.”

You may also see a “Claim With King’s Favor” option, but this feature is unavailable in the Early Access version of the game.

Claiming a region triggers a waiting period where other lords can attempt to contest your ownership. If contested, a battle will decide the rightful owner of the land.

Similarly, if a rival lord claims a region, you can contest them. If you defeat their army in battle, you get ownership of the region without spending any Influence. As such, always keep your troops prepared for potential conflicts.
