Even more details regarding Assassin’s Creed Hexe have appeared online, alongside a leaked image and the mention of a brand new character, Wolfgang. While Ubisoft is generally a leaky ship, May has been something else for Assassin’s Creed Hexe, with known Ubisoft leaker Rogue coming out of the woodwork, apparently getting take-downs across Twitter and Discord for their leaks, and xJonathan also revealing more info.

While both Rogue and xJonathan are known figures in the Assassin’s Creed community, it’s worth mentioning that the latter is generally more reliable than the former, and that neither individual has a spotless track record. Ubisoft has even called out one of xJonathan’s AC Invictus leaks as AI-generated before, so while they are more reliable than most accounts on the internet, everything here should be taken with a massive grain of salt.

A known Ubisoft leaker reveals new details about the upcoming release of Far Cry 7, including how it will handle multiplayer.

Brand New Assassin’s Creed Hexe Leaks

Ubisoft developers reportedly hate InvictusImage via Ubisoft

Before his supposed takedown, Rogue leaked that Assassin’s Creed Hexe‘s protagonist was named Anika (Elsa was a codename, like Hexe), that the game is set during the Wurzburg Witch Trials of 1625-1631, that blood pacts, poisons, and tree-to-tree parkour skills are key elements of the gameplay, that NPCs are more alert than ever because of the setting, and that Anika is a descendant of Claudia Auditore (Ezio’s sister), which apparently has ties to Ezio’s return in Assassin’s Creed Hexe.

Now, xJonathan has expanded on these claims with a leaked image. That has since been reportedly taken down, but it didn’t show much. It appeared to be a cinematic screenshot of an assassin in black performing stealth in a dark forest; it was a close-up, yet so dark to ensure that any identifying marks of the Assassin were null and void. xJonathan also claimed that Ezio’s return would be “later” in the game, via either memory discs or some kind of Isu tech, and that a new character named Wolfgang would serve as Anika’s mentor before Ezio.

Assassin’s Creed Embers Ezio Death

Wolfgang is described as similar to Assassin’s Creed Unity‘s Pierre Bellec, essentially “morally grey and controversial.” He is said to be the “bad cop” to Ezio’s “good cop,” and xJonathan also claimed that there will be both traditional Assassin’s robes and those more inspired by witches. Finally, although this is not as “certain” as the rest of this information, Anika’s last name is said to be Adler. Overall, it expands on Rogue’s points but offers nothing more concrete than Rogue. Still, given the leaks in Ubisoft’s ship, I wouldn’t be surprised that most of this turned out to be accurate.

That said, while I am choosing to have faith in Ubisoft Montreal and Assassin’s Creed Hexe‘s development team, I will reiterate my fears over an Ezio return. His story feels done and dusted, but if Anika is a descendant of his, if the story makes sense, if it is Memory Discs/Isu tech, then at least it’s firmly established in-universe. Ezio talked directly to Desmond once, long after he was dead, so this doesn’t seem beyond the realm of possibility. Still, execution matters just as much as planning, and fans will just have to wait and see if it lives up to that.
