LEGO is reportedly launching a Dragon Ball theme in 2027. In an unusual move, that launch could be preceded by a standalone Dragon Ball set rumored to arrive during the 2026 holiday season as part of one of LEGO’s established themes.
LEGO has been producing sets based on licensed properties since the late ’90s, beginning with its long-running Star Wars theme. However, lines based on popular anime franchises were nearly nonexistent for the vast majority of that period. That has started to change in recent years, with LEGO launching themes such as Pokemon, KPop Demon Hunters, and One Piece (which is technically based on Netflix’s live-action adaptation).
9 January 2027 LEGO Sets Detailed in New Leak
A newly emerged leak details a sizable batch of nine LEGO sets reportedly targeting a January 2027 release, with prices ranging from $5 to $150.
LEGO Dragon Ball Theme Reportedly Coming in 2027
Early Sets Expected to Largely Be Based on Dragon Ball Z
The trend is now expected to continue with a dedicated Dragon Ball theme. According to a new report from the Brick Tap community, citing industry sources, a theme based on the iconic manga and anime is scheduled to launch sometime in 2027. Its first wave of sets will largely be based on the Dragon Ball Z sagas, as per the same source. The claim suggests that subsequent waves could draw from other eras of the anime. What remains unclear is how many waves LEGO plans for 2027, and how wide a net it intends to cast for inspiration. However, the mere notion of multiple waves indicates that the first batch is most likely to appear in early 2027.
LEGO Shenron Set Reportedly Coming in November 2026, But as Part of Icons Theme
Separately, LEGO is rumored to be working on a Shenron set, which has been appearing in insider reports since February 2026. The model is expected to launch in November 2026 as part of the LEGO Icons theme. Brick Tap’s latest report reiterates that claim, adding that the Shenron set will be priced between $150 and $200 and include multiple minifigures. On a related note, the 2027 Dragon Ball theme is also said to be rich in minifigures, with Brick Tap’s sources suggesting it will introduce many new character molds.
Dragon Ball is not the only iconic anime expected to join LEGO’s product portfolio in the near future. The Danish toymaker recently confirmed plans to release its first Yu-Gi-Oh! product, though the circumstances surrounding that launch differ from the rumored Dragon Ball line. Rather than a full theme, Yu-Gi-Oh! will initially receive a single fan-designed set. The final design will be chosen from a previously launched LEGO Ideas contest, which challenged builders to recreate memorable moments from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters anime, specifically the Duelist Kingdom and Battle City tournament arcs. Submissions were required to use between 400 and 2,000 pieces, with LEGO later narrowing the pool to five finalists ahead of a fan vote. The eventual winner will be announced on September 10, 2026. As is the case with most of the company’s product efforts, LEGO’s Yu-Gi-Oh contest leaked online ahead of its official announcement.

While LEGO has already introduced several new themes in 2026, including the recent Shrek and KPop Demon Hunters lines, the company reportedly has more planned for the rest of the year. A PlayStation theme is rumored to launch in November 2026, months before Dragon Ball receives its own official line. The reported PlayStation range lines up with the mysterious “P” codename that first surfaced in a January 2026 LEGO leak.
