There are very few instances where Cyberpunk 2077 and Stardew Valley‘s worlds seem fit to collide. One is a harsh and cutthroat dystopian world where any moment can be the last, and the other is a lovely little farming simulator that has become the blueprint for modern cozy games. The two are worlds apart, but a new Steam game is up for the challenge of combining the vibes of both. Steam is rife with wonderfully unexpected indie titles, and this one might be the perfect option for both Cyberpunk 2077 and Stardew Valley lovers.

RoadOut is a post-apocalyptic action RPG that embraces Cyberpunk 2077‘s dystopian tech-filled world and blends it with Stardew Valley‘s retro-inspired pixelated art style. There are a lot of games like Stardew Valley out there, but there definitely aren’t many that dive into Cyberpunk 2077‘s dystopian themes. A mix of cars, post-apocalyptic survival, and charming visuals make RoadOut a game worth keeping an eye on.

Steam Has 11 Big Games Releasing in April 2026

Steam users have several major game releases to look forward to in April 2026, including both indie and AAA titles across a variety of genres.

In RoadOut, Surviving a Harsh New World is the Main Goal

Cyberpunk 2077‘s Night City is an unforgiving and overcrowded metropolis that demands everything from its citizens. RoadOut takes note of this unforgiving world, but it puts a spotlight on an untamed sprawling wasteland instead of a dense city. The setting and emphasis on cars makes it feel a lot like a mix of both Cyberpunk 2077 and Mad Max.

Essentially, RoadOut puts players in the shoes of Nomads. Cyberpunk 2077‘s life paths all have their own fascinating backstories, but Nomads are some of the most compelling. Their refusal to live in Night City’s power-hungry chaos sets them apart from Street Kids and Corpos, and RoadOut brings its own take on this faction to life in an intriguing new way.

RoadOut features three warring factions: WasteHeads, SaibaKuran, and Order of the New Code.

Welcome to the Dead Zone

This killer wasteland is called the Dead Zone. Players take on the role of a protagonist named Claire who will do anything necessary to survive. A mysterious cataclysm destroyed society, resulting in a powerful AI taking over the world. This left the survivors with no choice but to drive around aimlessly to the next job. Black market contracts and murder are all that Claire can do to make a decent living, and it’s an ethical dilemma that Cyberpunk 2077 players are going to immediately recognize. Cyberpunk 2077‘s V is constantly faced with questionable decisions.

Explore as You Wish

Whether it’s via car or on foot, RoadOut lets players explore the dangers of the Dead Zone how they see fit. The mark of any good post-apocalyptic RPG is a world worth exploring, and RoadOut‘s Dead Zone definitely has the ingredients to tick that box. Traveling by foot is a great option for slower discovery, but ripping up gravel and sand in Claire’s powerful car is what turns RoadOut into a compelling dystopian road trip. One of the most exciting parts about RoadOut‘s exploration, though, is that it adds a touch of The Legend of Zelda with some great dungeons to stumble upon.

The Legend of Zelda has some of the best dungeons in gaming, and RoadOut is directly inspired by this. It even says so on the game’s Steam page. These various dungeons are filled with puzzles that Claire has to solve in order to get rewards that will help her survive the Dead Zone for another day. There are a lot of great puzzle games on Steam, and RoadOut‘s interesting setting definitely has what it takes to be a fresh take on this feature. Cyberpunk 2077 has hacking puzzles, but it isn’t a very puzzle-heavy game. Stardew Valley fans might get a bigger kick out of this feature, though. Even though it’s a farming simulator first, Stardew Valley has a decent number of great puzzles that make exploring its world that much more rewarding. Each puzzle is a great incentive to keep searching every corner of the game’s world, and RoadOut is aiming to take this type of gameplay to heart.

Factions, Cybernetic Body Mods, and Desert Races Wrap Everything Up Into a Wild Post-Apocalyptic Package

Cyberpunk 2077‘s body mods are a major part of its world, and a tech-focused post-apocalyptic story wouldn’t really be complete without them. Cyberware doesn’t just look cool. It’s a statement and a status symbol in these kinds of societies. RoadOut lets players mod Claire’s body, weapons, drugs, and even her car in order to take on the Dead Zone’s unforgiving weather. Any kind of enhancement quickly becomes body armor, and there are plenty of possibilities that players can explore when it comes to customizing Claire.

Races Are One of RoadOut’s Main Highlights

RoadOut is taking a big page out of Mad Max‘s book when it comes to the emphasis on intense road races. The Mad Max movies have been hugely influential on dystopian stories, and Cyberpunk 2077‘s Nomads definitely have their own touch of that. Cars are important in Cyberpunk 2077, but RoadOut seeks to make them just as much of a main character as Claire is. The game boasts 10 unique tracks that take place in a variety of biomes. Whether one is interested in derby races or car-filled battle arenas, RoadOut has it. Upgrading Claire as a character is bound to be plenty of fun, but the real excitement is likely to come from the variety of ways that players can make their cars as powerful as possible. In a wild wasteland, a car is both vital for traversal and survival. It doubles as a weapon, so Claire will be able to do some serious damage with the right upgrades and equipment.

Cyberpunk 2077 and Stardew Valley may differ greatly, but they’re some of the most popular games of the past decade. So, it only makes sense that RoadOut chose to bring the two together. The game doesn’t come out until May 14, but those who are interested in such a fun combination can try out a demo on RoadOut‘s Steam page.
