Publisher Dotemu has just announced that Marvel Cosmic Invasion is getting another premium DLC later this year. Titled ‘The Siege of Castle Doom’, this upcoming Marvel Cosmic Invasion DLC will include two new playable characters and a brand-new game mode that centers around the iconic Marvel villain, and man of the hour, Doctor Doom.
Released in December 2025, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a superhero beat-em-up from the developers behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and the more recently released Scott Pilgrim EX. Just like its other games, developer Tribute’s Marvel Cosmic Invasion received a warm reception from critics at launch, with it sitting at a Top Critic Average of 81 on OpenCritic. In GameRant’s review of Marvel Cosmic Invasion, writer Nick Rodriguez gave the game an 8/10 and called it “one of the best arcade throwback titles of the past several years.”
Marvel Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom DLC Officially Announced
Marvel Cosmic Invasion‘s second DLC has just been announced. There’s not a lot of official information to go on right now, but some key details of this DLC have been confirmed by publisher Dotemu. Two new playable characters will be added with Marvel Cosmic Invasion‘s Siege of Castle Doom DLC, as will a brand-new game mode that will revolve around Doctor Doom himself. No details of the mode are currently available, nor are the identities of the new playable heroes. Marvel Cosmic Invasion‘s Siege of Castle Doom is set to launch sometime in Fall 2026, where it’ll arrive simultaneously on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.

While the upcoming expansion will be a “premium” DLC, there’s no official word yet on how much it will cost. Marvel Cosmic Invasion‘s first DLC released back in May and retailed for just $3.99. This first DLC added Cyclops and The Thing to Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Though it hasn’t been confirmed, it seems likely that the upcoming Siege of Castle Doom DLC pack will cost a little more as it’ll contain both new playable heroes and a new mode, though that’s purely speculation at this point.
2026 Is The Year of Doctor Doom
While Doctor Doom has been an incredibly popular Marvel villain since his comic debut in April 1962’s The Fantastic Four #5, he’s quickly becoming one of the biggest icons of the year when it comes to the entertainment industry as a whole. Of course, Doom’s most important 2026 appearance will be on December 18, when the villain makes his MCU debut with Avengers: Doomsday. Though the MCU in general is in a shaky spot right now, hype for Avengers: Doomsday is building steadily, thanks in no small part to the movie’s marketing, which keeps drip-feeding trailers every few months filled with beloved actors and characters.
Outside of the MCU, Doctor Doom continues to have a strong presence in the world of gaming. The recently released Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls features a very powerful version of Doctor Doom on its 20-strong roster, and Marvel Rivals‘ ongoing story frequently ties back in with Doctor Doom and his 2099 counterpart’s nefarious schemes. There’s even a rumor that Doctor Doom could be a playable hero in Marvel Rivals in the coming months.
