Destiny 2 fans have found a way to bring the content vault back, starting with a free mod that features the official Leviathan Raid. Destiny 2 is facing a future with no new content and items, abilities, and other game elements being disabled after Bungie and Sony decided to end support for the game. This led to almost the entire Destiny 2 team at Bungie being laid off, and the team publicly discussing options for situations where game-breaking bugs occur. One of the biggest issues the game has faced is the so-called content vault, where all the locations, activities, and items that are no longer available are stored. But an upcoming release changes that.
Destiny 2‘s content vault was one of the most lamented changes when the Beyond Light era started, as it removed most parts of the original version of the game forever, including the Red War campaign that kicked off the game’s story, as well as multiple planets and activities. Even now that the game has met its demise, the content vault is often brought up as one of the biggest causes of Destiny 2‘s death because it made content players paid for inaccessible, and it made joining as a new player extremely confusing.
Destiny 2 Players Will Soon Be Able to Play Leviathan Raid, More Content
A Destiny 2 player by the name of Jesus MC shared a few videos on YouTube of playable elements of the content vault and is now working on a mod that will allow Guardians to explore the official Leviathan Raid. This is thanks to old game builds found in the game’s files, with this specific version being from before Beyond Light, in Season of Arrivals, just before Destiny 2 content was vaulted. While Jesus MC has an FAQ section on GitHub, where the mod will be downloadable, stating that fans will be able to load into Destiny 2‘s Leviathan Raid and other locations from the content vault, but mechanics won’t work, and enemies won’t be present. The same goes for NPCs. Players won’t be able to use their Guardians or make new ones, either, as only three pre-made characters are allowed in this build.

Jesus MC also states that the mod used AI in some currently unspecified capacity, and that players should be aware of this in case it’s a deal-breaker for them. The FAQ section also states that this is not a cheat, a custom server, or a way to crack the game, and players should not incur any bans or other issues by simply using the mod, which does require a copy of Destiny 2 to be played. The planned release date is in about two weeks, though things could change. However, this could be a way for players to relive Destiny 2‘s Raids in order, from The Leviathan to The Desert Perpetual.
Fans should also be aware that this means the mod won’t allow the use of Stasis, Strand, or even the Prismatic subclass in Destiny 2, as these were not available in Season of Arrivals. While the content is mainly there for exploration, parts of each class’ toolkit may differ from now, as the characters are pre-made and from a long time ago. Loadouts can’t be changed, either, including the weapons.
Interestingly, this also takes players back to an era when Primary ammo was not infinite. As for the live game, players may have to endure more armor sets and maps disabled in Destiny 2, should game-breaking issues arise that require a difficult fix. Bungie is trying to fix what it can, but with no resources and an actual team, it will be very unlikely that the company can deliver patches.
