Pokemon GO‘s newest January 2026 event is adding a brand-new Pokemon from the franchise’s ninth generation, with Glimmet set to join the roster. The mobile game from Scopely has already seen plenty of new debuts throughout the first month of January, ranging from new Pokemon to Shiny variants. Pokemon GO‘s Pinch Perfect event introduced Gen 9 Pokemon Klawf to the mobile game, while the upcoming Precious Pals event is set to feature the first appearance of Shiny Fidough. Pokemon‘s most recent generation has been a particular focus for Scopely, as of late.
Pokemon GO has seen loads of debuts throughout recent months from new Pokemon first introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Each month has typically seen at least one to two Pokemon from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet brought to the game, adding creatures like Nacli and Tarountula. Pokemon GO has also seen previous leaks suggesting that several upcoming Scarlet and Violet Pokemon may already be included in the game’s files, including Ogerpon, Terapagos, and Pecharunt, among others. Now, Pokemon GO is gearing up to debut yet another new Pokemon from the franchise’s ninth generation.

Pokemon GO officially unveiled its upcoming Into the Depths event through the game’s social media accounts. The event will add Glimmet to the game as its main featured Pokemon, though Into the Depths does not appear to include its shiny variant. The Pokemon GO event will feature boosted spawns for several different Pokemon, raising the rates for Diglett, Dunsparce, Meditite, and Yungoos, among others. 7 km Eggs will also give players the chance to hatch some particularly noteworthy Pokemon from throughout the game’s history, boasting some pseudo-Legendaries like Larvitar, Bagon, and Deino. Pokemon GO‘s Into the Depths event is scheduled to officially begin on January 27 at 10:00 AM local time, running through February 1 at 8:00 PM.
Pokemon GO‘s newest event will offer a plethora of perks for players beyond its featured Pokemon. Players will be able to benefit from triple the experience gained from completing Pokemon GO‘s Routes during the event, alongside the hatching distance for eggs being cut in half. Some of the spotlight Pokemon will also see their Shiny Rates boosted during the event, particularly for Diglett and Yungoos out of the revealed creatures. A Timed Research is set to be available throughout the duration of Into the Depths, gifting players with two Incubators and Encounters with Diglett, Yungoos, and Glimmet.
Pokemon GO Has Seen a Busy Start to 2026
Pokemon GO‘s Into the Depths joins a busy January schedule for Pokemon GO, already running two versions of one of its most popular events. Pokemon GO ran two different Community Day events throughout January, with a Community Day Classic starring Piplup on January 4 and a Grookey Community Day on January 18. Pokemon GO has even revealed its next big Shadow Raid Day event on January 24, with players able to challenge Shadow Raikou for a limited time. Pokemon GO‘s announcement of Into the Depths teased more details to come about the event closer to its launch, as well.
While January still has lots in store for Pokemon GO fans, some players are already looking ahead to the next month of the game. Leaks from Pokemon GO have already confirmed the featured Pokemon for February’s Community Day event, with Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix set to receive their first event. Pokemon is also gearing up for its next big anniversary event to come, with the franchise set to officially celebrate its 40th anniversary with plenty likely on the way for the game. Pokemon GO fans should have lots to look forward to from the game throughout the next couple of months.
