A new report from a trusted industry insider claims that Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has officially informed both PlayStation and Xbox that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on track for its November 19, 2026, release date. Rockstar’s history of multiple delays has many fans concerned that Grand Theft Auto 6‘s current release date could once again be pushed back, but it appears as though all studios involved are highly confident that this won’t be the case.
Grand Theft Auto fans were given their first official look at the next installment all the way back in 2023, and it’s been a long and bumpy road ever since. Not only did Rockstar leave fans waiting for well over a year between the game’s two trailers, but it has also delayed Grand Theft Auto 6 multiple times. Upon its initial reveal, Rockstar was targeting a Fall 2025 release window for GTA 6, but fans of the studio knew this was unrealistic. An inevitable delay then occurred, which pushed the title back to May 26, 2026. Then, just six months before its release, Grand Theft Auto 6 was hit with another delay, this time moving its launch date to November 19.
Even GTA 5, Red Dead 2 Developers Are Struggling in the Game Industry Right Now
The job market of the video game industry is a constant struggle, as even a former Rockstar Games staff member is struggling to land a new job.
Another GTA 6 Delay Seems Unlikely
During a recent quarterly earnings call, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick provided fans with the update they had longed to hear: Grand Theft Auto 6 is still on track for its November release date. This was only a few weeks ago, and as Zelnick had repeatedly told fans he is “confident” in GTA 6‘s release date, only for it to later be delayed, many are still sceptical. However, industry insider Millie A, who has a proven track record when it comes to GTA 6 leaks, recently took to Twitter to reveal that Take-Two has now formally notified both Sony and Microsoft that Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on track to release within the current fiscal year. “At this stage, there are no planned delays, and the launch window is understood to be firm,” Millie A said in a new post.

The real question now is, when will fans get to see more of Grand Theft Auto 6? So far, Rockstar has only released two trailers, the second of which was accompanied by a ton of new screenshots. But it looks like things are about to ramp up in the coming months, as Zelnick also confirmed during Take-Two’s recent earnings call that marketing for the title will begin in the Summer. This likely means that fans can expect to see more from the title regularly in the build-up to its launch, instead of one trailer every year. Take-Two revealing marketing plans also show that the studio is highly confident in the November release date.
Many are also eager to pre-order the title and know exactly how much Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to cost. As one of the most anticipated video games of all time, with reports suggesting that development costs have skyrocketed past $1 billion, there are some serious concerns that Rockstar’s next title will go far beyond the usual $70 price point. Some analysts have even predicted that Rockstar could charge as much as $100 just for the standard edition. But, at the time of writing, neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has indicated that there will be such a price hike for Grand Theft Auto 6.
Fans were also given more confidence in Grand Theft Auto 6‘s release date this week when Insomniac and PlayStation announced that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch in September. Although it may seem unrelated, journalist Jason Schreier has previously claimed that PlayStation is treating Grand Theft Auto 6 like a PS5 exclusive. Of course, the title is also launching on Xbox Series X/S, but PlayStation is apparently aiming to avoid the blast zone of Rockstar’s release by not launching any of its first-party titles in the same window. So it’s no surprise that Marvel’s Wolverine has opted to launch two months beforehand.
