Action-RPG fans have another adorable new adventure to look forward to with Kitaria Fables 2, which will see players returning to the magical realm of Kitaria to embark on quests, raise healthy crops, help their neighbors, and engage in real-time combat. The sequel to Kitaria Fables will feature online and local co-op for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S, and players can get a first look at what to expect from the vibrant world of Kitaria Fables 2 with a brand-new official announcement trailer.

While local co-op video games dominated in the 90s, the introduction of online servers quickly saw a noticeable shift towards multiplayer gaming that expanded far beyond living rooms and LAN parties. Despite multiplayer online gaming dominating a large portion of modern releases, a number of developers have still chosen to include and even prioritize local co-op. Kitaria Fables 2 looks to join that growing resurgence of local co-op games that bring fresh experiences with a heavy dose of nostalgia.

Nintendo Switch 2 Exclusive Co-Op Game Looks Like It Takes Two and Split Fiction, But With an Old-School Anime Twist

An upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive looks like a perfect fit for co-op fans who love It Takes Two, Split Fiction, and anime.

Kitaria Fables 2 Brings Adventure, Magic, and Cozy Crafting

In Kitaria Fables 2, players will join the Royal Academy Expedition Team on a mission to reopen the fabled errand house of Whitewall Town and explore the uncharted wilderness of the Arkadera Peninsula in an effort to restore long-forgotten outposts and investigate rumors of a mysterious figure rising from deep within the unknown lands. Players will seek out remote settlements to earn rewards, collect skill points to unlock powerful special attacks and elemental spells, and gather valuable materials from the wilds to upgrade equipment, blend potions, and even create delicious treats. Audiences will also be able to restore their aunt’s disheveled farmstead, utilizing rare seeds and crop cultivation to expand the surrounding facilities and eventually turn a profit, much in the same vein as games like Stardew Valley.

Similar to other upcoming co-op games, Kitaria Fables 2 features both local and online multiplayer. Two players will take on the roles of Royal Army ‘Pathfinder’ Alice Skylar and enthusiastic local guide Dusty Tuftkin, with each character featuring a different play style, skill tree, and story. Alice and Dusty will need to venture through deep forests, boggy marshes, rugged highlands and snow-capped mountains to complete their survey of the peninsula while working together to overcome the toughest of challenges. From battling foes and running errands to nurturing a farm and uncovering abandoned swaths of land, Kitaria Fables 2 blends action and roleplaying with cozy vibes and colorful world building.

The inclusion of Nintendo Switch 2 in the launch of Kitaria Fables 2 may come as a surprise to some, as the console is still less than a year old, at the time of writing, and a number of upcoming releases have chosen to skip the platform. Whether the adorable graphics or local co-op, which often appeal to Nintendo fans in particular, helped to influence the decision to release Kitaria Fables 2 on the Switch successor remains speculative, but it does share notable similarities with other upcoming Switch 2 games. Kitaria Fables 2 is available now for wishlisting, and interested players can follow along for news on its eventual release date.
