Marvel’s Wolverine continues to receive post-launch support from Insomniac Games, with the latest update continuing to add features based on player feedback. Despite the player frustrations and controversies, it seems Marvel’s Wolverine has become another big hit for Sony and Insomniac, with the latter continuing to address the pain points through new post-launch updates.
It’s been a wild couple of months for Marvel’s Wolverine as the game experienced plenty of controversy prior to its September 15 launch. Preview events highlighted some gameplay areas that fans took issue with, from perceived simplistic boss fights to the game overly holding the players hand. In fact, Logan’s tracking ability in Marvel’s Wolverine, represented by a blue scent trailer in-game, became a lightning rod of sorts for the community, rapidly turning into a major talking point for reviewers and players a like. While Insomniac attempted to defend the feature and explain why it’s there in the first place, the studio has been receptive to feedback and is making big changes to the game.
Nearly a month after launch, Insomniac continues to make good on its promise to refine Marvel’s Wolverine based on feedback. The latest update further adjusts Logan’s tracking ability by allowing players to completely toggle all story-related scent trails off from the in-game settings. The update also addresses a number of polish-related issues, fixes for crash triggers, and additional player-reported bugs. The accessibility features have also been improved through fixes to dicovered problems with Navigation Assist, Lock-On, and more.
This latest scent trail update follows suit with previous updates for Marvel’s Wolverine, which began the process for adjusting how helpful the game was for players. While many still lament the fact that the game will essentially autocomplete quick-time events, Insomniac has continued to build in new settings to adjust the scent trails. Previous updates toned down how strong the trail appeared in the world, which then led to actual setting toggles for optional collectibles like Whiskey Bottles, Material Crate audio clues, and roots that would lead to NIghtmare Doors.

For base PlayStation 5 users, this update also activates Sony’s Quick Spectral Super Resolution feature. Added at the start of October in a core PS5 system update, QSSR is AI upscaling technology that gives players new graphical options, similar to the PSSR tech on the PS5 Pro. Currently, only Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yotei support QSSR, with additional games expected to be added over time. In terms of Marvel’s Wolverine, the feature is turned on by default for base PS5 owners once the update has been applied.
While neither Sony or Insomniac have officially revealed sales data for Marvel’s Wolverine, third-party companies have attempted to fill in the gaps. Based on estimates from Rhys Elliot of Alinea Analytics, Marvel’s Wolverine launched as the sixth highest-grossing new game released on PS5 in 2026, estimated to have earned $130 million just three days after launch. With a major Marvel movie arriving in December, as well as Grand Theft Auto 6 helping push PS5 sales, Marvel’s Wolverine could experience continued success throughout the rest of the year, pushing those numbers even higher.
