Steam has added a new upcoming multiplayer game, Olympus Rangers, which bears a strong resemblance to titles in the Pokemon series. Developed by Mechano and published by Jandusoft, the game is billed as a turn-based strategic creature battle simulator that aims to redefine the genre by offering players greater customization options. Olympus Rangers has just been announced and doesn’t have a specific release date yet, but it is expected to be available to PC players via Steam later this year.

Steam has seen many games similar to Pokemon so far, but player reception has varied depending on the title. On the one hand, there are productions like Palworld, which, despite being clearly inspired by a famous franchise, have introduced a lot of variety, thereby gaining recognition and fame among the gaming community. On the other hand, however, games that failed to clearly distinguish themselves from Pokemon faced controversy and even consequences such as being removed from Steam, as was the case with Pickmos. The mere fact that a game draws inspiration from this Nintendo multimedia franchise is not enough to determine its fate, as success or failure hinges on clearly defining the boundaries of those references and taking the initiative to introduce something fresh.

The Nintendo Switch is Getting a New Turn-Based Game Inspired by Pokemon

A brand-new turn-based creature-collecting game has just been announced, and it’s heading to the Nintendo Switch.

Olympus Rangers Is a New Multiplayer Steam Game That Looks Like Pokemon

Publisher JanduSoft has released a reveal trailer for its upcoming game Steam game, Olympus Rangers, featuring gameplay footage and a list of key features. The main objective for players in this turn-based strategy video game will be to train and evolve creatures known as Olys, so they can later use them in battle. They will be able to build their team from a roster of 60 fully customizable Olys, whose stats, moves, and passive abilities they can modify, and to whom they can equip modifiers to create infinite combinations.

Olympus Rangers promises players even more options for customizing their gameplay, from small details like the ability to customize their avatar’s appearance to full mod support and a variety of battle modes to choose from. Another key feature of the game is the integration of Steam Workshop, which allows fans to create and share their mods. With this feature, they will also be able to design their own Olys in both 2D and 3D.

Shortly after the game’s trailer was released, players expressed mixed feelings about the upcoming project in the comments. Some of them had a positive view of the title, praising its art style and the freedom and creativity it offers through its integration with Steam Workshop. Other commenters, however, were not impressed, arguing that the similarities to the Nintendo series are too great and obvious, which could affect the game’s future. Some even speculated that it might soon join the ranks of titles removed from Steam.

While there is support within the gaming community for the Olympus Rangers’ ideas of combining creativity, preparation, and strategic decision-making, the fact that the game draws heavily on the well-known series seems to raise doubts among some people. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the development of this latest production from JanduSoft and how the gaming community will react to further updates on its progress.
