New Official Assassin’s Creed Hexe Teaser Released

While rumors have long pointed toward Assassin’s Creed Hexe taking place in Wurzburg, it seems it will include Nuremberg (both in Germany), according to a recent official teaser. Wurzburg and Nuremberg are about 70 miles apart, meaning that there’s a good chance both are simply included in Assassin’s Creed Hexe, as opposed to the rumors being completely wrong.

Of course, it bears repeating that Ubisoft has confirmed very little about Assassin’s Creed Hexe, as even its Witch Trial Germany setting is derived from hidden Easter eggs in the original teaser trailer. Now, however, the company has shown off a little teaser of Nuremberg in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe Includes the St. Lawrence Cathedral

Black Flag Resynced replaces the original modern-day storyline, which is still canon, with a new version focused on the Animus Ego as introduced in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. In this new Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced content is a teaser of the St. Lawrence Cathedral (also spelled as St. Lorenz/Lorenzkirche), which is in Nuremberg in southern Germany. Not only is the cathedral seen in the game a 1:1 recreation of the St. Lawrence, but it is also staged alongside other clear indicators for the franchise: a Pyramid for Assassin’s Creed Origins, a Greek Stoa for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a Viking longhouse for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, a Japanese Castle for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and an Abbasid architectural building for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Obviously, the Cathedral stands out for fans, and while some have argued that it’s an older AC game, there’s strong evidence to the contrary.

First and foremost, the Cathedral seen in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is, again, a clear recreation of the St. Lawrence—it’s one of the most precise buildings in the line-up of architecture. More than that, each of these games represents the direction of modern Assassin’s Creed games since Origins. It’s an exciting find for fans regardless, as it’s the most concrete teaser or look at the game, even if it’s not much, since the initial teaser in 2022.

Fans used the original trailer to deduce it was set in Witch Hunt Germany, but there have been a plethora of Assassin’s Creed Hexe rumors and leaks since. In short, it is believed that the protagonist is named Annika, that she’s a descendant of Ezio’s sister Claudia, that Ezio may have a small Mentor-esque role (though some kind of Isu shenanigans), and that it’s a darker, non-RPG story. Given the sheer horrors that took place in AC Hexe‘s rumored primary setting of Wurzburg, “darker” could be underselling it. Assassin’s Creed has explored some of the most important, even deadliest, points of history, but to delve fully into the dark side of history is an exciting direction.

Rumors suggest Assassin’s Creed Hexe will release in 2027, although there’s plenty of time between now and then for things to change. If true, though, many fans are hoping to see Assassin’s Creed Hexe at Gamescom 2026. Taking place in Cologne, Germany, as always, it’s hard to ignore the synergy of such a combination: a Germany-based Assassin’s Creed game being fully revealed at one of the biggest stages in gaming, in Germany. It would no doubt be a good marketing boost after the release of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, but whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
