Grand Theft Auto 6 fans need to mark August 27 on their calendars, as that’s when the next big update on the highly-anticipated game will be released. Grand Theft Auto 6 is arguably the most highly-anticipated game of all time, with hype reaching unprecedented levels despite Rockstar revealing very little about it since its initial announcement.

The GTA 6 timeline from announcement to release is rather unorthodox, with Rockstar staying very quiet about the game and what it will entail. Rockstar first announced GTA 6 all the way back in February 2022, but it wasn’t until December 2023 that the very first trailer dropped. The first GTA 6 trailer mainly focused on Lucia, the first female protagonist in the series. The second GTA 6 trailer didn’t come until May 2025, with that one turning its attention to the second playable protagonist, Jason.

GTA 6 Extended Look Date and Time

  • Thursday, August 27 at 3pm EST

Fans have been waiting over a year for another GTA 6 update, and luckily, the wait is nearly at an end. It’s been confirmed that GTA 6 will be getting an Extended Look presentation on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3pm EST. Specifics on the presentation have yet to be announced, but it’s assumed that it will feature the first proper look at GTA 6 gameplay, and will run for about half an hour. Leaks have suggested that the GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix may even be the first part of a three-part series, though that has yet to be confirmed.

Anyone that wants to watch the GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix live as it happens will need to shell out for at least the lowest-tier of the service, which costs $8.99. Those that are willing to wait can hold off and watch the GTA 6 Extended Look on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel six hours after the Netflix airing. There’s been some controversy about this decision, but chances are that there will be a lot of people tuning in to Netflix that day that wouldn’t have otherwise.

It’s assumed that the GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look will be primarily focused on the game’s single-player content. After all, Rockstar Games has yet to even acknowledge the existence of a GTA 6 online multiplayer mode. However, one has to imagine that more information on GTA 6‘s online multiplayer is going to come at some point in the relatively near future. Perhaps an online showcase will be one of the later Netflix Extended Look episodes, or maybe Rockstar will take some other avenue to show off the game’s inevitable online multiplayer functionality.

The thing is, there’s still a ton to reveal about GTA 6, and not all that much time to do it. Rockstar is going to pull the curtain back on the game come August 27, but who knows when the next reveal will be after that. With the GTA 6 release date still locked in for November 19, fans should be able to expect plenty more information about the highly-anticipated open world game to come at a faster pace.
