Pokemon fans have yet another new release to look forward to as the beloved franchise continues celebrating its 30th anniversary. The Pokemon franchise hit the scene in the mid-90s with the incredibly successful Pokemon Red and Blue, followed by the anime series and a never-ending barrage of merchandise. 30 years after its debut, Pokemon is the most successful entertainment franchise the world has ever seen.
To help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise, Nintendo ported the Game Boy Advance games Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen to the Nintendo Switch. It also revealed the Generation 10 Pokemon games, Pokemon Winds and Waves, as Switch 2 exclusives. Furthermore, The Pokemon Company and Target teamed up to release exclusive limited-edition Pokemon merchandise. There’s even more new Pokemon merchandise to look forward to in the near future, with a mammoth puzzle set to drop in September of this year.
Ravensburger is Releasing a Gigantic Pokemon Puzzle
Ravensburger will be releasing a giant 40,320-piece Pokemon set that’s over 22 feet long. Official pricing information isn’t available at the time of this writing, but the gargantuan puzzle is expected to cost somewhere in the $700 – $800 range, minimum. The puzzle features a wide variety of Pokemon of various generations and types. While it will likely have a steep asking price, it will likely be worth the price of admission for hardcore Pokemon fans and collectors. More details on pre-orders and pricing should come to light as we get closer to the puzzle’s September 2026 release.

Pokemon fans more concerned about new games in the series should note that there are no new main series Pokemon games scheduled to release until next year. To help fill the gap between now and then, fans can look forward to Pokemon Pokopia‘s Bubbly Basin DLC, set to drop in August, as well as the other two expansions for that game, on deck for late 2026 and early 2027. Details on what those later Pokemon Pokopia expansions will entail are scarce, but we do know that the third DLC will introduce a new town for players to explore and decorate.
As far as the main series games go, Pokemon Winds and Waves are expected to release in late 2027. It’s likely that the next info dump on those games will come on February 27, 2027, aka Pokemon Day. In the meantime, there have been plenty of Pokemon Winds and Waves leaks that have potentially revealed all kinds of interesting details about the games. According to the leaks, it seems as though Pokemon fans may be able to expect hundreds of new creatures when the Generation 10 games release next year, including regional forms for fan favorites like Psyduck. However, it’s best for fans to keep their expectations in check and wait for official word from Nintendo.
While Pokemon fans wait for more information on Winds and Waves and other future Pokemon projects, they can look forward to more merchandise releases like the Ravensburger puzzle. The expensive Pokemon merch may not be for everyone, but should satisfy the diehards.
