A new game on Steam called Dimraeth takes Elden Ring‘s monster-riddled open-world map and combat system and mixes them with Stardew Valley‘s cozy atmosphere and life-simulation aspects. The result is a genre mashup that could attract many Steam users with different tastes, from fans of intense Soulslike combat to pixel-art enthusiasts looking to build their dream farm in a fantasy, D&D-like universe.

Dimraeth is being developed by indie studio Mudtek. The team recently released a brand-new trailer showcasing more gameplay features and confirming a plethora of new content. Dimraeth first made headlines when it released a free demo that impressed fans of both Soulslike games and life simulations. But it is once again in the spotlight as its release date is right around the corner.

Dimraeth Is a Unique Soulslike Life Simulation

In Dimraeth, players take on the role of fantastic immortal heroes tasked with stopping an ever-growing corruption in the land of Mirkea. This might immediately remind some people of the Tarnished in Elden Ring, who are exiled from the Lands Between by Marika and called back to fulfill their role in the story. Dimraeth also lets players live out a day-to-day life by giving them a Sanctuary, which is essentially their base. The Sanctuary can house their homes, pets, and allies, while also serving as a farm, just like in life-sim games like Stardew Valley.

Dimraeth’s Open-World, Combat, and Multiplayer Explained

When not farming, foraging, crafting, or building, players can explore the vast, open world of Dimraeth. Just like in Elden Ring, the map is filled with threats and hostile creatures that can kill the player in an instant. Luckily, they are equipped with weapons and magic to fight back, albeit in true Soulslike fashion. There is a stamina bar that limits attacks and parries, while only a limited number of potions are available for healing. Dimraeth also has in-depth, tactical RPG mechanics, allowing players to mix and match eight races with six classes to create new builds and then min-max their attributes through skill points and learned abilities.

Co-op supports up to eight players in a drop-in, drop-out style. In other words, friends can join a world at any point, bringing their characters’ progression and items with them, and leave whenever they want. Meanwhile, quests and NPC-related dialogue remain tied to the host’s world. High-level Dimraeth players can therefore jump into a friend’s game like the famous player Let Me Solo Her in Elden Ring and help them defeat a tough boss or complete a difficult mission before heading back to their own Sanctuary. But they can also continue developing a shared home and complete the campaign together, just like in most other co-op games with base-building.

Dimraeth plans to enter early access on Steam on September 15, with the 1.0 version expected to hit the shelves 18 to 24 months later. The EA version comes with fresh content, including a new Elf race and a Shadow class. Developer Mudtek has also listed the following new features coming with the EA release: “male/female options for every race, furniture, equipment sets, crafting stations, base-building options, quests/NPCs, new elites, new dungeons, difficulty levels, skill tree overhaul, improved character customization, and many quality-of-life improvements.”
