PS5 owners are getting a brand-new open-world RPG to play for the holiday season, with open-world anime RPG Silver Palace scheduled to officially release on December 14. Silver Palace joins a wealth of free-to-play RPGs to release on the PS5.
The PS5 has been a popular platform for many open-world free-to-play RPGs, boasting a wealth of options from fan-favorite developers. HoYoverse has released each of its recent games on Sony consoles ahead of other platforms, including Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero. Kuro Games RPG Wuthering Waves also received PS5 versions after their launch on PC and mobile devices, long before Wuthering Waves’ Xbox Series X/S debut. Now, PS5 players are set to receive another open-world adventure with a detective spin.
Open-World RPG Silver Palace Launching on December 14
Silver Palace is a brand-new open-world RPG from Chinese developer Silver Studio set to release in late 2026. The game is billed as an open-world action RPG set in a Victorian-era-inspired world, with players taking on the role of a detective investigating different mysteries around the city. Silver Palace features similar combat to Genshin Impact, focusing on swapping between characters mid-combat to string together attacks and combos. Silver Palace is currently scheduled to launch on December 14, with fans able to pre-register for the game now via its official website.
Silver Studio has revealed a plethora of rewards players can claim after the game’s pre-registration hits certain milestones. Silver Palace has already exceeded 15 million pre-registrations, which grants players 80,000 of the game’s Ounce currency on release. Higher reward tiers include Simulation Shots, expected to be the primaru currency for the gacha banners, while Silver Palace will give players a free four-star character after it reaches 30 million pre-registered users. Silver Studio has also confirmed rewards for following Silver Palace‘s social media, gifting players with 5 Simulation Shots after the game’s official accounts surpass 5 million followers.
Silver Palace looks to face stiff competition in a genre filled with heavy-hitters. The previously mentioned Genshin Impact welcomed the release of its Version 7.0 update in August 2026, finally adding the region of Snezhnaya to the game after teasing the snowy locale since its launch. 2026 has already seen multiple new free-to-play open-world RPGs debut to fan acclaim, including Arknights: Endfield and Neverness to Everness. Silver Palace will also be the debut game from Silver Studio, a subsidiary of Chinese mobile game publisher Happy Elements.
Silver Palace is just one of several major new releases planned to arrive on the PS5 during the 2026 holiday season. Grand Theft Auto 6 is easily set to be the biggest launch of the holidays, with Rockstar already projected to make billions from the launch of the open-world crime franchise’s newest game. Multiple fan-favorite franchises are also set to launch new games during November and December, including Ubisoft’s Rayman Legends: Retold and Level-5’s Professor Layton and the New World of Steam. PS5 owners should have plenty to look forward to throughout the rest of 2026, between new free-to-play RPGs and major AAA releases.
