Drova 2 — Torn Lands has released its first official trailer, showcasing its massive open-world map and offering a glimpse of gameplay inspired by beloved Gothic games. The upcoming RPG is a direct sequel to the original, which some players dubbed “isometric Gothic.” Drova 2 — Torn Lands is set to release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG.
The first game in the franchise, Drova —Forsaken Kin, launched in 2024 and has since maintained an average user review score of over 90% positive from around 10,000 players. Many fans have praised it as a streamlined take on early Gothic games, complete with pixel art graphics. Developer Just2D has acknowledged these comparisons, openly explaining on Twitter that the game is “an old-school RPG inspired by games such as Gothic, Morrowind, the first Witcher, and Arcanum.”
Drova 2 — Torn Lands Wants to Be a Truly Open-World RPG
One of Drova 2‘s biggest selling points is its vast open-world map, which players can explore from the get-go. There are no quest markers or mini-maps to guide players, so they must pay attention to dialogue and environmental clues to avoid getting lost. Beyond exploration, Drova 2 also aims to be a game where decisions matter. As developer Just2D puts it, “The premise is to take players seriously.” To achieve this, the game will feature handcrafted points of interest, detailed NPC interactions, and a branching story influenced by world events.
Some elements from the original Drova game will return in the sequel. For example, the story will once again feature two factions, with players choosing between the Bear Mother and the Great Ram. For those who haven’t played the first game, these factions influence both gameplay and story, each with its own culture and combat style. Like its predecessor, Drova 2 will also feature extensive build-crafting, this time allowing players to create entirely new fighting styles that were absent from the first game.

Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
Progression in Drova 2 — Torn Lands will closely resemble that of some other classic open-world RPGs and Gothic games. Players start as a weak, unknown character and gradually rise to become a renowned hero. For that, they must fight enemies and slay vicious creatures to unlock new abilities and obtain better gear. The open world will also hide secrets that might lead to shortcuts to higher-level items, rewarding players who dare to look behind every rock and explore eerie corners.
Regarding the sequel, developer Just2D said, “[Drova 2] offers exactly what players would expect from a worthy successor.” The developer explained that the game will feature a larger but equally detailed map, an overhauled combat system, more critical decisions that shape the story, and the same “no quest markers, no hand-holding” approach as the first game. Whether fans of gothic games will embrace these changes and the new content remains to be seen when Drova 2 — Torn Lands finally launches.
