A new release is arriving for the Pokemon series on October 15, giving players one more way to celebrate the franchise for its 30th anniversary. While the new launch is likely to be popular, that popularity could be a double-edged sword for fans, as this Pokemon release may not last long.
Pokemon has been celebrating its major anniversary in all kinds of ways, ranging from re-releases of existing games, Pokemon Pokopia updates, and plenty of merchandise. As the holidays approach, some of these new launches could very well make good gifts for friends and family members who love Pokemon.
Pokemon Partners with Beats For New Release
Pokemon and audio product maker Beats are teaming up to release a new speaker based on the series. On October 15 at 8 am PT, a new Beats Pill Wireless Bluetooth speaker will be launched that features Mimikyu and Pikachu on the grill on the front of the speaker. Pikachu is surrounded by gray lightning bolts and has a concerned look on his face, while Mimikyu appears in grayscale beside it. The speaker also features a carrying lanyard with a Poke Ball charm, and comes with special-edition Beats x Pokemon stickers. Interested fans can pick it up for $149.99, the same price that standard Beats Pill speakers are typically sold for, on Apple.com, as well as in Target stores and on the Target website.

Aside from the Pikachu and Mimikyu design, the Pokemon x Beats Pill Wireless Bluetooth speaker looks to be identical to its standard counterparts. Accordingly, buyers can expect the speaker to last for up to 24 hours on a single charge, and it can be powered up again via USB-C. The same USB connection can also be used to power up a phone, so the speaker can act as an emergency power bank. It’s also IP67-rated, so it can stand up against dust, dirt, sand, and some water exposure. The Beats Pill Wireless Bluetooth speaker is also unique in that two of them can be wirelessly connected, syncing the speakers via Amplify Mode or switching to Stereo mode for a more surround sound-like experience.
Pokemon electronics and devices are popular among fans these days, with the series receiving a number of accessories over the years. Some of the most common among these are the Razer Pokemon releases, which pair up Razer headphones, accessories, and more with Pokemon designs. A new line-up of Pokemon Razer headsets just launched at Target, so fans who intend to look for the Pokemon x Beats Pill speaker in-person at a Target store may want to take a look and see if they can find both collections. However, it’s likely that they’ll both sell out quickly, given the general demand for Pokemon products.
Though 30 years have come and gone since the humble beginnings of Pokemon Red and Green‘s release in Japan, the series is now arguably more popular than ever. However, it’s been a big year for Japanese game fans in general, as Pokemon isn’t the only Japanese game series that’s celebrated its 30th anniversary. Alongside it, Atlus JRPG Persona and Capcom classic Resident Evil also saw their own launches in 1996, and are both still going strong all these years later. It will be interesting to see where all three series stand in ten years’ time, when they reach their 40th anniversaries.
