While Capcom has been keeping quiet about the full details for its previously-announced story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, fresh community leaks have suggested a surprising direction for the upcoming content, along with an alleged story DLC already being in the works for Resident Evil Veronica. Both the latest installment and the next release in the Resident Evil series are supposedly preparing for major lore expansions, with the rumored focus of the Requiem DLC raising eyebrows, and the possibility of DLC for Resident Evil Veronica earning early applause.

Players no doubt recall the massive change of pace undertaken by Capcom after the less-than-stellar reviews of Resident Evil 6. Many consider the release of Resident Evil 7 to be the major turning point in the modern era of Resi, and the subsequent launch of the Resident Evil 2 remake is hailed as the crucial milestone that helped usher in the continued string of Resident Evil game remakes and the push for more new titles in the series. Resident Evil Requiem and the Resident Evil 4 remake were additionally met with massive success, so it was not all that surprising to see Capcom reveal the return of Resident Evil Veronica. Understandably, the decision to tease a story DLC for Requiem, and now rumors of the same content addition also coming for Veronica, have been seen by many fans as yet another step in the right direction for Resident Evil.

Resident Evil Veronica and Requiem Story DLC Rumors

According to rumors from Pirat_Nation and Dusk Golem, the upcoming 2027 release of Resident Evil Veronica could be followed up by a DLC launch in 2028. Capcom is said to be prioritizing more content expansions in-between mainline game releases, and both the Resident Evil Requiem story DLC and this alleged Veronica DLC would fulfill that new launch strategy for the series. It may be worth noting that Requiem released the “Leon Must Die Forever” DLC within a few months of the game’s official launch, which could have potentially already fulfilled the gap between the release of two mainline games. If the Requiem story DLC also launches before Veronica, it could further solidify the new rumored Capcom Resident Evil launch strategy. Of course, no official comments on this release pattern have been shared by Capcom, so audiences will want to take these so-called leaks with a heavy grain of salt.

Audiences have already shared vocal support for a more DLC-focused content pipeline for the Resident Evil franchise, with many hoping to see consistent story and gameplay expansions for future releases in the series. Both Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village received multiple DLC packs, and if that pattern does hold true moving forward beyond Requiem and Veronica, then players could potentially have annual releases to look forward to. At the time of writing, there is still no word on the release date for the Resident Evil Requiem story DLC, but the official confirmation of a busy development pipeline has many fans hopeful for a prosperous future for the iconic survival horror series.

As rumors continue to swirl about an extended prequel-style story DLC starring Alyssa Ashcroft and even the potential return of the Spencer Mansion in Resident Evil Requiem, players’ attention has now quickly been turned to the alleged Veronica leaks and the type of expansion that could be coming in 2028. Only time will tell if early predictions ring true, so interested fans will want to stay tuned for any official word from Capcom on whether the Resident Evil Veronica DLC is even happening and when the next Resident Evil Requiem launch will finally be on the way.
