A new physical Tomb Raider release has officially been confirmed, with Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Collection getting Standard and Collector’s Editions for the Nintendo Switch 2. Distribution is being handled by Limited Run, giving this Tomb Raider release another way for fans to revisit one of Lara Croft’s most acclaimed modern adventures with plenty of goodies.
Originally released in 2015, Rise of the Tomb Raider served as the middle chapter of Crystal Dynamics’ Survivor trilogy and built heavily on the foundation established by the 2013 reboot. Critics and fans generally praised its larger environments, exploration, tombs, and impressive visuals, with the expanded 20 Year Celebration edition later earning an 88 Metascore on PS4. Interestingly, the “20 Year” name originally celebrated the Tomb Raider franchise turning 20 in 2016. Another ten years later, Lara is now celebrating her 30th anniversary, making this a decade-old anniversary edition that gets a second life during a completely different milestone.
Rise of the Tomb Raider Gets a New Physical Switch 2 Release
Limited Run Games and Aspyr have confirmed that pre-orders for the Rise of the Tomb Raider physical Switch 2 editions open on October 9 and run through November 15. The $49.99 Standard Edition includes the physical Game Card, case, and an eight-page booklet, while the $99.99 Collector’s Edition adds a SteelCase, Trinity cloth patch, Collector’s Edition box, and a light-up replica of the Divine Source. Most importantly for physical collectors, both versions include Rise of the Tomb Raider on a Game Card rather than just a download code in the box. No shipping date has been announced yet.

Players may be happy to find they are also getting the complete Rise of the Tomb Raider package, not just the original campaign. This release includes all the Season Pass content, covering Blood Ties, the zombie-filled Lara’s Nightmare, Co-Op Endurance, Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, Cold Darkness Awakened, and the Extreme Survivor difficulty. There are also several classic Lara skins and equipment inspired by 1998’s Tomb Raider 3. Anyone coming to Rise for the first time on the Nintendo Switch 2 will find they get considerably more than the adventure that launched in 2015.
Limited Run’s physical release also follows Rise of the Tomb Raider‘s impressive digital Switch 2 debut earlier this year, giving Lara’s Siberian adventure another chance to show how well it has aged. Rise was certainly one of the better-looking AAA games of its era, with snowy mountains, dense ruins, and large-scale environments that still hold up surprisingly well more than a decade later. Seeing that entire adventure running natively on Nintendo’s newest handheld is impressive on its own, even if the Switch 2 version naturally makes some visual compromises compared with more powerful hardware.
The timing also couldn’t be much better for a new Tomb Raider release on one of the most popular consoles on the market. Lara Croft is shifting into her next era, with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launching February 12, 2027, as a complete reimagining of her original 1996 adventure, while Crystal Dynamics is also developing Tomb Raider: Catalyst, an entirely new game set across Northern India that the studio describes as featuring the largest world in series history. The Survivor trilogy redefined Lara for a new generation, and Rise remains one of its strongest chapters, giving Switch 2 owners who prefer something tangible on the shelf another reason to return to Kitezh.
