The Fallout: New Vegas mod titled Fallout: Chicago has received a new demo along with a trailer. This year marks the 16th anniversary of the release of Fallout: New Vegas, an action RPG built in the same engine as Fallout 3. The game, which maintained the atmosphere of the other titles in the extensive Fallout series, immediately captured the attention of the gaming community with its freely explorable open world and a setting inspired by recognizable landmarks from real-life Las Vegas. Another aspect that was highlighted at the time as a feature that set it apart from other installments was its robust dialogue system in the form of dialogue trees, which significantly influenced players’ progression and the way they experienced the story.
Although the game received generally favorable reviews shortly after its launch, it was also criticized for glitches and bugs, such as poor companion and enemy pathfinding, frame rate issues, and crashes, which were attributed to the developers rushing the project after being given only 18 months to create an AAA title in a highly acclaimed series. However, with the release of a patch for Fallout: New Vegas and the addition of four story-based expansions featuring new areas to explore and storylines that expand the plot in new directions, players and critics have reevaluated the game, significantly improving its initial reception. To date, the game has reportedly sold at least 11.6 million copies worldwide and is widely regarded as the best installment in the entire Fallout franchise, as evidenced by the large number of fan-made mods created for it.

Fallout: New Vegas Mod Gets a New Demo
Among the many mods released for Fallout: New Vegas, an ambitious DLC-sized project titled Fallout: Chicago has attracted quite a bit of attention from fans of the original game. Now, a year and a half after the initial reveal of the mod, MadMailMan Studios has released a new demo for the game, accompanied by a trailer showcasing various locations. The demo, which is available exclusively on PC, has been released on the Nexus Mods website and includes the entire first act of the mod. It also includes three side quests and a new set of activities, such as dealing drugs and owning businesses.
The demo is primarily characterized by a completely new worldspace set in Chicago, a location that has been mentioned previously in other games in the Fallout series. In addition to new areas inspired by a real city, the mod also features 4 new factions, new enemies, and dozens of new weapons and armor. The creators of this project have also announced their next steps for its further development, which include adding several more faction quests, giving voices to all generic NPCs, and removing placeholder assets. The developers also stated that the mod will feature more cosmetic changes, including the addition of more interiors to explore and an increase in the variety of spawns and random encounters.
Although Fallout: Chicago is still a work in progress, fans of the original game and the entire series have already expressed their excitement in the discussion sparked by the demo trailer, sharing their nostalgia for older Fallout games. Although it has been over 15 years since the release of Fallout: New Vegas, the game continues to be a recurring topic of discussion among members of the gaming community, not only because of the various mods that expand the game’s story or add unexpected elements to it, but also in light of the developers’ official plans to further expand the franchise.
Despite the fact that rumors about the alleged Fallout: New Vegas remaster have been denied by Iron Galaxy, this does not mean that Bethesda has no plans to expand the franchise beyond the TV series and Fallout 5, which is reportedly in pre-production. While it remains to be seen which direction the series will take and what Fallout: Chicago will ultimately be like, Fallout fans can look forward to seeing their favorite universe continue to expand in the near future and in the years to come.
