Nintendo has issued a new statement on the availability of The Legend of Zelda-themed Switch 2 consoles. The Legend of Zelda is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and Nintendo is recognizing the occasion with a variety of special releases. This includes special limited-time Zelda-themed accessories for Switch 2, the aforementioned Switch 2 console, and the upcoming highly-anticipated remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is coming to the Switch 2 on November 5. The remake rebuilds the Nintendo 64 classic for modern hardware, with vastly improved graphics, quality of life changes, gameplay upgrades, and more. When one considers the fact that the N64 Ocarina of Time is the highest-rated video game of all time, it’s safe to say that hype is high for the Switch 2 remake. But while the Ocarina of Time remake is releasing for Switch 2 on November 5, the Zelda-themed Switch 2 console is actually releasing to the masses a week earlier, on October 29.
Zelda Switch 2 Consoles Will Be Restocked
The Zelda-themed Switch 2 console costs $519.99 and doesn’t even come with a copy of Ocarina of Time, but it still managed to sell out almost immediately. In an interview with Coelho no Japao, Nintendo’s Latin America Vice President and General Manager Bill van Zyll recently acknowledged that the company “underestimated how well [the Zelda Switch 2 console] would be received,” which has led to the special edition console being sold out everywhere. Van Zyll reassured fans that Nintendo is “working on replenishments” of the Zelda Switch 2 console, though stopped short of providing any specifics as to when such replenishments may be available. Regardless, the takeaway is that if you haven’t been able to secure a Zelda Switch 2 pre-order, don’t cave to the scalpers just yet, as you will potentially still have a chance to buy one at MSRP at some point in the near future.

The Zelda-themed Switch 2 dock features a striking black and gold color scheme, with the franchise’s iconic Triforce logo on the front. The special Zelda Joy-Con 2 controllers that come with the console are green, black, and gold, and are some of the most visually-distinct Joy-Con 2s released to date. It’s not surprising at all that the Zelda Switch 2 console is a hot-ticket item, and so hopefully supplies are replenished sooner rather than later.
For what it’s worth, van Zyll’s comments are in line with what Nintendo has previously said about Zelda Switch 2 console restocks. Shortly after the Zelda Switch 2 consoles sold out, Nintendo updated its store page to encourage fans to “check back soon,” indicating an intention to restock the highly-coveted device.
Those that don’t want to wait for a future Zelda Switch 2 console restock may want to try to buy one in store on launch day, October 29. In fact, it’s been confirmed that Best Buy is hosting a midnight launch for the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, and some locations have confirmed that they will have some consoles for sale as well. Mileage may vary, but even if you missed your chance to pre-order the Zelda Switch 2 console, you may still be able to get one on release day.
