There are six high-profile game releases hitting the Nintendo Switch 2 in May 2026. Nintendo has ensured that the Switch 2 has had steady support since its release last year. Nintendo itself likes to stick to a release cadence of roughly one major first-party game per month, and there have been all kinds of third-party titles released for the platform as well.
Some of the biggest and most critically-acclaimed third-party games of 2026 have released day-and-date on Switch 2, with Capcom alone delivering both Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata to the platform. Plenty of popular indies have released for the Switch 2 this year as well, ensuring that there is always something new and worthwhile to play on the platform.
Nintendo Reveals New Limited-Time Switch 2 Deal
Nintendo fans looking to get a new Switch 2 console can soon take advantage of a limited-time offer at participating retailers.

Now there are six more games for Switch 2 gamers to look forward to, all set to drop in May 2026. First up is Mixtape, a narrative-driven coming-of-age game inspired by John Hughes movies, that is set to release on May 7. Then on May 12, Switch 2 owners can look forward to Call of the Elder Gods and Xbox’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle releasing on the platform. May 21 will see the release of Switch 2 exclusive Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, while Bubsy 4D is coming on May 22 and a native Switch 2 port of the sci-fi “cat game” Stray is coming on May 28.
The headlining new Switch 2 game for May 2026 is undoubtedly the only exclusive being released for the platform next month, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a cutesy 2D platformer that follows in the footsteps of past Yoshi games with its unique art style and laid-back gameplay. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book previews have been largely positive, and if all goes well, the game should make for a solid addition to the Switch 2’s growing library of exclusive games.
Otherwise, the May 2026 Switch 2 lineup is being dominated by third-party, multiplatform releases. Switch 2 getting an Xbox-published game like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is great for the console’s library, and Mixtape has looked very promising ever since it was first announced. Bubsy 4D may be the surprise hit of May 2026, though, as its tongue-in-cheek and self-aware approach to the character looks like it could take Bubsy to hilarious new heights.

As far as future Switch 2 games go, the console’s 2026 calendar is still pretty bare, but we do know that Splatoon Raiders is releasing on July 23. Nintendo is expected to host a Nintendo Direct presentation in June that will reveal even more upcoming Switch 2 exclusives, so owners of the home console/handheld hybrid should keep an eye out for more information.
