Nintendo officially added Hello Kitty Island Adventure to its Game Trials program on October 9. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can download the game for free and play until October 15 at 11:59 p.m. PT, with the full game available and no restrictions on playtime. Because the Game Trial is a time-gated download of the full game, players can also carry over their save data from the Game Trial if they purchase Hello Kitty Island Adventure. The Nintendo Switch version of Hello Kitty Island Adventure is also on sale through the Nintendo eShop throughout the duration of the Game Trial, with fans able to score a 45% discount on the game.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure has seen plenty of favorable comparisons to one of Nintendo’s most popular Switch games. The game has often been likened to Hello Kitty‘s take on the Animal Crossing franchise, with the player befriending popular Sanrio characters, such as Kuromi and Cinnamoroll, and building up their island paradise. The game has also received regular updates since launch, recently debuting the 3.0 “Welcome Home” update on October 8, which added a Creative Mode to the game alongside new Layouts, Kits, and more.
The Hello Kitty life simulation game joins several AAA games previously featured on Nintendo’s Game Trials. Nintendo has already featured eight different games on the program throughout 2026 before Hello Kitty Island Adventure, including multiple EA Sports games like Madden NFL 26 and EA Sports FC 26. The program has frequently made successful, award-winning games available for free for a limited time, such as September’s Game Trial featuring Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is one of many popular life simulation games to call the Switch line of consoles home. Alongside Animal Crossing: New Horizons, games like Disney Dreamlight Valley and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream have seen success on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch 2 received its first big life simulation game in early 2026, with Pokemon Pokopia becoming one of the most popular games on the company’s newest platform. Hello Kitty Island Adventure‘s Game Trial gives even more fans the chance to try out the relaxing Hello Kitty life sim.
