Nintendo Switch Online has come a long way from its original selection of classic games, with the subscription service now offering hundreds of classics across several Nintendo consoles and expanding with three more games on October 27. While major franchises like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid naturally get plenty of attention, some of the more interesting Nintendo Switch Online additions are games that never received the same level of recognition.
The original Game Boy library is included with a standard Nintendo Switch Online membership, so subscribers don’t need the more expensive Expansion Pack to access it. The collection is also playable on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, with modern conveniences such as save states making it easier to revisit games from decades ago. Nintendo has continued adding new titles throughout 2026, and three more classic Game Boy games are on the schedule for October 27.
New Game Boy Games for NSO List (October 27)
- Avenging Spirit
- Mole Mania
- Pinball: Revenge of the Gator
The first new game is Avenging Spirit, a 1992 action-platformer game with a unique premise. Players control the ghost of a murdered man who returns to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend, but instead of fighting enemies directly, he can possess their bodies. Different enemies have different weapons, attacks, and abilities, allowing players to switch between characters as they progress through the game. Originally released in arcades before coming to Game Boy, Avenging Spirit stands out for its possession mechanic, which gives players several ways to approach the same stages and enemies.

Mole Mania is another October 27 addition, bringing one of Nintendo’s lesser-known puzzle games to Nintendo Switch Online. Released in 1996 and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, the game follows Muddy Mole as he attempts to rescue his kidnapped family from an evil farmer. Its puzzles involve moving objects, avoiding enemies, and navigating increasingly complicated environments, but the real twist is Muddy’s ability to dig underground. Players regularly have to move between the surface and underground areas to solve puzzles, which was certainly novel for the time.
The third game is Pinball: Revenge of the Gator, a 1989 release from HAL Laboratory, the developer best known for Kirby. As the name suggests, the game is built around pinball, with players using flippers to keep a ball moving across several connected screens while racking up points. Different sections feature obstacles, targets, and bonus opportunities, while losing the ball sends it into the mouth of a hungry alligator waiting below. It’s a relatively straightforward arcade experience compared to the other two additions, but its colorful presentation and high-score-focused gameplay make it a good fit for shorter play sessions.
All three games will be available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers on Tuesday, October 27, with no additional purchase required beyond an active membership. The update also gives Nintendo fans another reason to play Game Boy games beyond NSO’s “biggest” additions, particularly with Mole Mania and Avenging Spirit offering mechanics that still feel distinctive today.
