The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will be released soon on Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo has revealed a new look at Link and Navi as they appear in the game. At the start of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Link lives in Kokiri Forest. Unlike the others who live there, Link does not have a fairy of his own. That all changes when he meets Navi, a fairy sent to him by the Great Deku Tree. That’s where Link’s adventure truly begins, as he embarks on a quest to protect all of Hyrule from Ganondorf.
The N64 version of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is considered one of the greatest games ever made, but it remains to be seen how the Switch 2 version will be received. The game is positioned as Nintendo’s major release of the holiday season, but remaking something that’s already beloved can often prove challenging for developers. Some Zelda fans want a faithful remake, while others want an experience that feels more modern. For the developers, there’s a real challenge of threading that needle and pleasing both sides.
Nintendo Releases New Images from the Ocarina of Time Remake
In a post on Facebook, Nintendo revealed new images of Link and Navi in the remake of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The images offer a close look at some of the graphical details that can be found in the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 release, particularly the threads on Young Link’s hat and tunic, and the improved textures of the grass found in Hyrule. Link’s design has proven controversial in the Ocarina of Time remake, and these images should give fans a better idea of what to expect when it gets released on Nintendo Switch 2.
The relationship between Link and Navi is a major part of Ocarina of Time. Since Link doesn’t speak in the game, Navi helps to move along the game’s storyline, while also playing a role in the actual gameplay. Navi could sometimes prove irritating in Ocarina of Time, as the fairy would often insist that players pay attention to elements in the game’s dungeons and other locations. In the newly revealed images from Nintendo, Navi can be seen offering information to Link about a new addition to the game called fairy thoughts. Little information has been offered about fairy thoughts, other than that they might reveal some secrets.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see how this new addition will work, as the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake releases on November 5. With that release date swiftly approaching, Nintendo has been building excitement by releasing new images, trailers, and clips. The hype cycle is officially in full swing, and the game could end up being a system seller for Switch 2. The platform has quickly proven successful for Nintendo, and a remake of one of the biggest games ever released could convince even more people to upgrade from the original Switch.
Two years after the arrival of Ocarina of Time on N64, Nintendo released a direct sequel titled The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. Since the remake of Ocarina of Time was announced, fans have been wondering if Majora’s Mask might receive a similar treatment. That remains to be seen, but Majora’s Mask is also very well-regarded among Zelda fans. Not only would existing fans like to see it, but a remake of the game could help a whole new audience discover its charms.
