Nintendo’s confirmation that Rhythm Heaven Groove is releasing this summer lends credibility to a leak about the company’s upcoming plans for the Switch 2, and the Zelda series in particular. The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s biggest and most beloved franchises, and so there was never any question that it would have representation on the Switch 2. In fact, Nintendo made sure that the Switch 2 launched with native, enhanced ports of the Switch 1’s most popular Zelda games.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition were both launch titles for the Switch 2. They brought the classic Switch 1 open world adventures to the new consoles with better performance and some minor, but exclusive features. With no new Zelda game currently announced, Nintendo fans are wondering what’s next for the series, and it seems a recent leak may be a very good indication of what to expect.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is About to Go On a Massive Hot Streak
The hot streak that the Nintendo Switch 2 is experiencing right now doesn’t seem to have an end date in sight, especially if recent leaks are true.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Leak Backed Up by Rhythm Heaven Groove Announcement
Reputable leaker Nate the Hate recently claimed that Nintendo is prepping a full-blown Ocarina of Time remake for the Switch 2 that will supposedly be out this holiday season. The same leak suggested that Rhythm Heaven Groove would be a summer 2026 game. Nintendo has since confirmed Rhythm Heaven Groove‘s July 2 release date. Since the leak got that detail right, it’s now a lot easier to take the Ocarina of Time remake claims seriously. While not 100% confirmation, it’s definitely a point in favor of the big Switch 2 leaks being the real deal.
According to the leaks, the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake won’t simply be a port of the 3DS remake that already exists. It’s been built from the ground up for the Switch 2, though what that entails exactly remains to be seen. One thing’s for sure, it will definitely be very interesting to see how closely it matches the original game. Hopefully, the Ocarina of Time remake is revealed at the next Nintendo Direct, which is expected to take place in June, so fans get concrete answers about the project.
What Other Switch 2 Games Were Leaked?
The Ocarina of Time remake and Rhythm Heaven Groove weren’t the only game mentioned in the recent leaks. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, a new Nintendo Switch Sports release, Pikmin 4: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Splatoon Raiders, and, most surprisingly of all, a new Star Fox game, were also mentioned. The same logic applies to these titles, of course, and so unless plans have changed or the Rhythm Heaven Groove release window was just a lucky guess, it seems like this summer is going to be stacked for Switch 2 gamers.
Apparently, all the aforementioned games are coming to the Switch 2 this summer. It’s possible release dates for these projects will be revealed at the next Nintendo Direct, but there have been claims that the new Star Fox game announcement is going to be announced within a matter of weeks. Whatever the case may be, it’s an exciting time to be a Switch 2 owner.
