- Creator of Daggerfall Unity is working on a new original game, inspired by the expansive world and complex systems of Daggerfall.
- The new game will be in the same vein as Daggerfall Unity and will support mods, aiming to captivate players and make its mark in the industry.

In the wake of the release of Daggerfall Unity, the recreation of Bethesda’s beloved The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall, its creator is working on a new project. The new game will be an original title in the same vein as The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall, and share some of Daggerfall Unity‘s qualities.
Though it’s much older than better-known titles like Skyrim and Morrowind, Daggerfall might be the most expansive of the Elder Scrolls open-world RPGs. Set in the Tamriel provinces of High Rock and Hammerfell, Daggerfall‘s map size is theorized to be hundreds of thousands of kilometers in area – almost the size of a real-life nation like the United Kingdom. It’s said to take dozens of real-life hours to walk across, with thousands of locations and multiple unique biomes to traverse in search of adventure. Daggerfall Unity was an expansive mod of the original game that ported its content to the popular Unity game engine.
The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall: How to Install Daggerfall Unity
Daggerfall Unity is an excellent way to play the Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall with many quality of life improvements, so here’s how to install it.
Gavin Clayton, the creator of Daggerfall Unity, announced that he and his contributors are working on a new game. The news comes courtesy of an interview with Clayton published by DualShockers. Into this new Daggerfall-style title, which has no official name as yet, Clayton said he will pour the experience of developing Daggerfall Unity for over a decade. He also said that creating an entirely new game and a porting project like Daggerfall Unity are different beasts, but said he would be satisfied should the new game get even a fraction of the acclaim heaped on Daggerfall Unity.
Though details about the new game are light at the moment, Clayton said that the new game is an original work in the “same vein” as The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall Unity. Clayton said that as a fan of such games, his new title would have a large world to explore, like Daggerfall, and complex systems to master. Mods would also be supported, in light of the many mods already working on Daggerfall itself. Work on the game has already begun, and Clayton is scaling back his work on his IT Managed Services business, to better reallocate his time to his dream project.
The sheer scale and vastness of Bethesda’s sandbox RPGs have proven inspiring to multiple generations of players and developers alike. Even today, new players are getting into older Elder Scrolls titles like Daggerfall and discovering the appeal of the design style Bethesda’s practically patented. And beyond the franchise, new developers like Clayton will make their own mark on players and the game industry at large.
