Award-winning puzzler What the Golf? is coming to the PS4 and PS5 on March 14. This much-overdue release promises to add to the selection of comical games on PlayStation consoles.
Made by the interactive comedy specialists at Triband, What the Golf? was originally released in September 2019 as an Apple Arcade exclusive before making its way to PC a month later. The Danish developer then ported the game to the Switch the following year, mere months after winning the Best Mobile Game accolade at the Game Developers Choice Awards. Apart from stellar reviews, What the Golf? also has seven other award nominations to its name.
10 Strange Sports Games Most Players Have Never Heard Of
On occasion, sports can get weird. Here are some strange sports games that most fans of soccer, golf, football, and so on have never heard of.
The humorous puzzler is now set to join the list of high-quality indie games on PlayStation. Specifically, Triband and publisher Future Friends Games will be bringing it to the PS4 and PS5 on March 14. The What the Golf? PS Store page is already live, allowing PlayStation users to wishlist the game ahead of its release. The listing confirms that the quirky puzzler will both work offline and support Sony’s Remote Play feature. Its PlayStation pricing has yet to be disclosed, but is likely to be in the ballpark of $20.
What the Golf? Is Still Receiving Free Content Updates After 5 Years
Although comedy is inherently subjective, the kind of ludicrous slapstick humor that What the Golf? unapologetically embraces has allowed it to develop a reputation as a game that’s about as universally funny as possible without actually trying too hard. And while Triband never disclosed any concrete sales figures, What the Golf? clearly sold well enough to warrant long-term support, as it’s still receiving free content updates to this date. The latest such release debuted in mid-January, introducing a variety of cheese- and slime-themed levels.

Immense level variety has been one of the most widely praised gameplay aspects of What the Golf, the first-ever game that lets players “golf a horse.” The PlayStation version of the puzzler will include all of its existing content spanning more than 300 levels in total, with Triband confirming that even more are on the way post-release.
Another Golf Game That’s Not Really About Golf Is Coming Soon to PlayStation
This renowned indie release is coincidentally not the only faux golf game that’s been confirmed to be coming to PlayStation on February 12. The other one is Turbo Golf Racing, an unrelated title from British developer Hugecalf Studios, which looks like a golf-themed take on Rocket League, except with traditional racing courses instead of arena-based gameplay. Turbo Golf Racing is still waiting for a concrete release date, with today’s announcement only stating that its PS5 version is set to launch in the second quarter of 2024.
