A fan of the first Xbox console took to social media to show off a factory-sealed copy of Halo 2: Limited Collector’s Edition that they purchased for a meager price at a Value Village store. Following their post, the Xbox fan received requests about selling their discovery, and some users shared similar tales of games found at discount stores for cheap.
Originally released in November 2004, Halo 2 was a direct sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved on the original Xbox console. With support for online multiplayer via Xbox Live and local multiplayer via the system link feature, Halo 2 is considered one of the top entries in the series. However, Halo 2 also developed a reputation for having one of the most difficult campaigns in the Halo series, even at the normal difficulty level, as enemies swarmed recklessly and mercilessly toward Master Chief. Even then, that has not stopped fans from fondly remembering what is considered one of the high points in the Halo series.
Halo Fan Creates Incredible Colored Pencil Drawing of the Arbiter
The Arbiter from the Halo series is recreated in a stunning colored pencil drawing thanks to the talents of one artist who is a fan of the games.
During a trip to a Value Village store, one Xbox gamer made a discovery that gave their peers a look into their memories of gaming in the 2000s. A Redditor named No_Reflection7190 posted three pictures of a copy of Halo 2: Limited Collector’s Edition on the r/Halo subreddit that they purchased for $7. The game was still factory-sealed in shrink-wrapped plastic and had a sticker advertising Xbox Live on the front. Compared to the standard version of Halo 2, this edition came in a silver-colored steel book with Halo 2‘s logo on the front, and there were two tamper-evident stickers on the bottom and the side of the package.
At the time of its release, Halo 2: Limited Collector’s Edition sold for $60. It came with both a copy of Halo 2 and a DVD that featured documentaries detailing the game’s development. In the comments of No_Reflection7190’s post, some Halo fans pointed out that sealed copies of Halo 2: Limited Collector’s Edition go for as much as $230. By comparison, Halo Infinite Collector’s Edition launched for $169 at retailers such as Walmart.
While the OP has not shown any intent to part with their find, the campaign and multiplayer maps of Halo 2 are currently available via Halo: The Master Chief Collection at the time of writing. Though currently in a state of flux, only time will tell what Microsoft’s plans are for the Halo series in 2024.
