Pocketpair CEO Takuru Mizobe spoke about the idea of bringing Palworld to the Nintendo Switch 2, stating that the studio would be interested in coming to the Nintendo platform. The statements come as Palworld has been embroiled in a years-long legal battle with Nintendo.

The monster-catching survival game made waves when it first launched in early access in 2024, quickly capturing the hearts of fans. The game combines a variety of adorable and fearsome Pals with base-building and survival elements. Pocketpair has regularly pushed out new updates for the game in the two years since its debut, adding new Pals, places to explore, and enemies for players to battle. Now, Pocketpair has made an official statement about the idea of eventually launching a Switch 2 version of Palworld.

Pocketpair CEO Wants to Bring Palworld to Switch 2

In an interview with VGC, Pocketpair CEO Takuru Mizobe spoke about the Nintendo Switch 2 and the future of Palworld. Mizobe was quick to praise the Nintendo Switch 2, both for its performance in Japan and internationally, calling it an “amazing platform” for games. When asked about the idea of eventually bringing Palworld to the Nintendo Switch 2, Takuru Mizobe said that Pocketpair would “love to have conversations” with Nintendo about the possibility of launching the game on the Nintendo platform. The Nintendo Switch 2 is the only current console that does not have a playable version of Palworld, debuting on Xbox consoles and later arriving on PS5 in September of the same year.

While Palworld on Switch 2 seems like an obvious decision, Pocketpair’s history with Nintendo serves as the biggest hurdle. Nintendo filed a formal lawsuit against Pocketpair and Palworld in September 2024, alleging patent infringement against Pocketpair, particularly citing the similarity of Pal Spheres and Poke Balls. The legal dispute has been drawn out for more than two years, with the scope of the lawsuit changing multiple times and Nintendo even reducing its demands from Pocketpair in June 2026.

Palworld‘s ongoing legal issues with Nintendo have done little to slow down the game’s momentum. Pocketpair has confirmed multiple spin-offs are in development, including farming sim Palfarm and a mobile-exclusive version of the game with Palworld Online. Pocketpair even took another cue from the Pokemon franchise with the debut of its own TCG, teaming up with Bushiroad to launch the Palworld Official Card Game in July 2026 to overwhelming success. The card game even saw similar issues with scalpers to the Pokemon TCG on launch, with Palworld‘s Dawn of Palpagos set quickly selling out and being targeted by resellers.

With Palworld growing into a full-fledged franchise, the original game is gearing up for some major new content. Pocketpair has dropped several teasers for Palworld‘s upcoming Version 1.1 update, confirming the update’s title as Side by Side and teasing the ability for players to team up with the game’s Tower Bosses. The studio also shared a release window for the update, confirming that Palworld‘s Version 1.1 is scheduled to officially release in Winter 2026. Palworld has been a smash-hit since its debut and the game looks to maintain its momentum well into the future.
