Palworld developer Pocketpair stated that the Wildlife Sanctuaries found throughout the game’s world map will be overhauled in the upcoming 1.0 release. The Palworld development team revealed the changes coming to the game as the highly-anticipated July 10 launch date drew closer.
Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has seen various updates that have included new islands for players to explore and new Pals to discover. Some of the regions that were added during early access include Sakurajima, Feybreak Island, and the islands from the Tides of Terraria crossover update. Palworld‘s 1.0 release will completely change the game in different ways, including one change to a feature that has been around since early access began.

Palworld Reveals Updated Pal Wildlife Sanctuaries for 1.0 Release
Given that Palworld 1.0 has several changes that could fill over 27 PDF pages, one change will be visible once players log in after July 10. Palworld shared a short teaser video on social media that showed updated Pal Wildlife Sanctuaries. Currently, Palworld‘s Pal Sanctuaries are on remote and rocky islands that players can only access by swimming or flying. However, the updated version will see them covered by barriers and guarded by flying drones. Ergo, Palworld players may have a more difficult time getting through the new Sanctuaries undetected.

Each Sanctuary will have its own unique ecosystem, with examples being a lush forest and a rocky hot spring. Each of the updated Sanctuaries will be filled with unique and powerful Pals for players to catch. Some of the Pals seen in the teaser include Astegon, Frostallion Noct, and Shadowbeak. Pocketpair stated that players can find unique materials throughout the updated Sanctuaries, along with powerful bosses that call these new lands their home. It is unclear how much more challenging the new Sanctuaries will be.
Palworld also revealed a look at some changes that will be made throughout the rest of the Palpagos Islands in version 1.0. Palworld will include some story-driven missions and flesh out some existing areas that will see more human NPCs and Pals coexisting. A second teaser showed a look at how Pals and humans live together, with a fishing hut and a cliff-side digging site as the main examples. Given that Palworld already introduced a building-focused update in December 2025, version 1.0 will likely introduce new ways players can build up their bases.
In light of all the changes coming to Palworld 1.0, Pocketpair clarified that players do not need to erase any of their established save data beforehand. However, Pocketpair asked Palworld players to consider making a new save file once version 1.0 goes live to experience a fresh start. Since Pals can be transferred between save files via the Global Palbox, it remains to be seen how many Palworld players will take Pocketpair’s recommendation to heart.
In response to the updated Sanctuary teaser trailer, Palworld teased a future video that will go over all the upcoming 1.0 changes. With Palworld‘s 1.0 launch on July 10 just days away, time will tell what surprises Pocketpair still has in store.
