PC Is GR Readers’ Most Popular Gaming Platform

PC Is GR Readers’ Most Popular Gaming Platform

Gaming has always been a hobby of choice. From the early days of picking which game to put your quarters into at the arcade, all the way to the current day, where the biggest decision is which gaming system to purchase for your home set-up.

The gaming space is as competitive as ever, with the likes of Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation all vying for your loyalty with console exclusives and new features. All the while, PC continues to offer the most customizable experience. So, which gaming platform do Ranters pledge their allegiance to?

These Were the Most-Played Games on Xbox and PlayStation in 2025

New data reveals the most-played games of 2025, and the results might be surprising, considering the many big titles that were released that year.

The results are in, and it’s not even close! PC has been declared the most popular gaming platform for Game Rant readers with a dominance that hasn’t been seen since Clair Obscur all the way back in 2025! As for the consoles, it was closer than you might think!

Where do you plan on playing video games the most in 2026?

The results of the preferred gaming systems poll

  • PC — 62% / 1,623 votes
  • PlayStation — 15% / 398 votes
  • Other — 8% / 222 votes
  • Xbox — 8% / 216 votes
  • Nintendo — 6% / 169 votes

The message is abundantly clear – Game Rant readers are PC gamers! While the battle between consoles was a hot contest, PC asserted its dominance in our recent poll, with over 60% of voters planning to play their games on laptops and PCs this year. This is hardly surprising, given the accessibility PCs offer in terms of customized builds and bypassing the majority of console exclusivity restrictions, but it is staggering how heavily favored the platform is.

Among the consoles, Sony has reigned supreme, with close to 400 gamers opting to use their PlayStation system to partake in their favorite past-time in 2026. This is, interestingly, followed closely by “other”, which could encompass the likes of VR systems, handheld consoles (aside from the Nintendo Switch/Switch 2), or retro gaming platforms – so it’s good to see gamers still opting for variety!

Perhaps the biggest surprise, and somewhat disappointing result, is the low numbers for Nintendo players. Given Nintendo is the most recent console provider to release a new product, it’s somewhat of a surprise to see such a small representation for Switch and Switch 2 players. The Switch 2 got off to a somewhat shaky start in 2025, so Nintendo will be hoping to turn things around with some big releases in 2026.

With the argument settled, we turn our attention to the worlds of LEGO and Pokemon! With the recent announcement of the two giants collaborating, which set intrigues you the most?
