PC users have a limited time to grab a first-person shooter/TD hybrid game that lets players kill zombies to their heart’s content, simply titled Blood and Zombies. It’s not the most original game out there, as plenty of PC games involve shooting zombies, but it’s completely free of charge as of this writing (it typically retails for $15). However, that’s only for a limited time, so anyone interested should act quickly.
IndieGala hosts this DRM-free game giveaway, and the company has been around since 2011, but has more or less operated under the radar. It is an Italian digital storefront and distributor that focuses on discounted PC bundles, typically of the indie variety. It hosts free game giveaways rather frequently, with Blood and Zombies simply being the latest.
All Big Upcoming PC Games For 2026 & Beyond
PC players have hundreds of new Steam games to look forward to in 2026. We are talking basically every genre imaginable.
In Blood and Zombies, players get to choose between one of four heroes and then deploy into a war zone. Once there, players must be on the defensive to withstand the upcoming zombie horde. In such a way, it features basic wave shooting mechanics, as players must mow their way through waves of zombies, but that’s where the Tower Defense/TD features come into play as well. Players will be able to develop a fortress, ranging from a small outpost to a massive bunker, while deploying elements like landmines, machine guns, and Tesla Towers. The combination of FPS and Tower Defense gameplay means players can adapt their strategy to the zombies and waves.

Each playable hero has a unique skill tree that is expanded after each wave, while Blood and Zombies players have full control over their loadout, including a dozen primary and secondary weapons. Players will want to be prepared, as Blood and Zombies incentivizes experimenting with loadouts, defense set-ups, skills, and strategies. One way it does this is with a plethora of zombie enemies: there are 50 distinct enemy types players will face. Between testing loadouts, spending money on upgrades, and finding out what works in between, there’s more here than necessarily meets the eye.
Plus, it’s worth reiterating that this is a DRM-free copy, which means this game can be downloaded and kept forever without any clients like Steam or Epic Games Store.

Over on Steam, it’s worth noting that the reviews are “Mixed.” As a general summary, it seems fans suggest waiting for a sale (which is free right now) and having your expectations meet that price point. Expect a simple free zombie game with tower defense mechanics, and you won’t be disappointed. Some accused it of being bland, although with a solid atmosphere, and suggested it’s weak on content for solo players. It’s more recommended as a co-op game, which is understandable, and everyone can grab a copy for themselves (right now, for a limited time). Others praised its progression for the characters and difficulty. The biggest point of critique seems to be a few bugs, a few weak animations, and a lack of content for the long run.
However, should someone score a free zombie game to play with their buddies and adjust their expectations to that statement, then it seems like they’ll have a couple of fun hours at least. It’s an afternoon romp, but killing zombies makes for a good afternoon romp.
