With 2026 marking the 30th anniversary of the Persona series, Atlus has pulled back the curtain on the future of the franchise. Persona fans are getting Persona 4 Revival early next year, with Persona 6 officially announced as well. Now, another Persona remake project has seemingly leaked online, revealing what could be the first gameplay of a Persona 1 remake.
Atlus has teased a Persona 1 remake for some time, following the release of Persona 3 Reload and the announcement of Persona 4 Revival. However, not many fans would have expected the game to surface so quickly with P4R and P6 still unreleased. The first official gameplay of Persona 6 hasn’t even been revealed yet, suggesting this Persona 1 remake could still be a ways off even if it is real.
Persona: Be Your True Mind Gameplay Leaked
A video shared on Reddit showed gameplay from an apparent Persona 1 remake, allegedly titled Persona: Be Your True Mind. In this gameplay footage, the main character is seen running through the hallways of St. Hermelin High School, similar to how players traverse Tartarus in Persona 3 Reload and the TV World in Persona 4 Revival. The video also showcases a battle against shadows, including the use of skills that look like Persona 3 Reload‘s Theurgy. Atlus has not given an official update on whether this footage is real.

Aside from the protagonist, other Persona 1 characters showcased in this leak include Masao Inaba, Eriko Kirishima, and, strangely, Tetsuya Suou from Persona 2: Innocent Sin. The presence of P2:IS‘s protagonist calls this leak into question, given that he isn’t present in the original Persona. However, it’s possible this remake is more of a reimagining of the first two Persona games and combines elements of both into a single experience.
Persona 1‘s protagonist does appear in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, referred to as “Boy with Earring,” confirming that the two games take place in the same universe.
Some Persona fans aren’t convinced of this leak’s authenticity, especially in an age where AI-generated game trailers are commonplace. Tetsuya Suou’s presence is another sticking point for some fans questioning the trailer’s legitimacy. However, there are some signs that suggest the trailer may be real. Although the game is clearly incomplete, Unreal Engine debug text can be seen in the footage, which aligns with Atlus’ switch to UE with Persona 3 Reload. Eriko also seems to reuse Yukiko’s summon animation from Persona 4 Revival, suggesting that this is the work of Atlus itself and not a fan project.
A leak like this is surprising given Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6 still haven’t been released, but it’s not completely unheard of. Persona 3 Reload was infamously leaked ahead of its official reveal with a brief video showcasing Yukari Takeba’s combat gameplay. At the time, there were endless debates over that video’s authenticity, which turned out to be legitimate. Time will tell whether Persona: Be Your True Mind ends up getting an official announcement as part of the ongoing 30th anniversary celebration.
