After revealing a new character for Persona 4 Revival, Atlus is providing a bit more context surrounding Aika Nakamura in an attempt to clear up some initial confusion after she was referred to as a new social link. As fans continue to wait for news on the upcoming Persona 6, Atlus has been keen to remake some of the older games in the series, with Persona 4 Revival being the next game in line to receive the treatment ahead of its early 2027 launch.
Similar to the recent remake of Persona 3, Revival is an updated version on P4 Golden, which was also an expanded version of the original 2008 PlayStation 2 title. While the core narrative and gameplay elements are largely the same as they were previously, Persona 4 Revival features overhauled graphics alongside reimagined UI, events, and even combat mechanics to modernize and freshen up the experience.
Persona 4 Revival Details Location Episodes
Following a new broadcast from Atlus, Persona 4 Revival introduced Aika Nakamura, the daughter of the owner of Inaba’s Chinese restaurant, Aiya, and a fellow student at the school. This marks her first in-game appearance, as previously, she was only seen in Persona 4: The Animation, and only mentioned in the game’s dialogue. Interestingly enough, the broadcast referred to Nakamura as a “new social link character” which quickly caught the attention of fans.

However, that doesn’t appear to be the case after all. Following the release of the English version of the broadcast, Atlus took to social media to clarify that Nakamura isn’t a true social link in the traditional sense and is instead a Location Episode Character. Similar to Linked Episodes from Persona 3 Reload, Location Episodes appear to be new side quests that players can take on to learn more about the game’s characters, including Nakamura. For Aika’s Location Episode, players will be able to spend time with her and learn more about what Inaba was like previously through old photographs.

Persona‘s social links are a core mechanic in the franchise, especially with the modern games, where players can essentially deepen their bond with core members of the team who are represented as Major Arcana. As players increase the ranks of their social links, they unlock bonuses and new abilities for their teammates. While Persona 4 Golden added Adachi and Marie as new social links, many fans were excited to see Aika Nakamura as another new option, though some wondered how Atlus would make this work, considering the time mechanic present in Persona games.
Even without a new social link to work on, players will have plenty of new elements and features to dig into with Persona 4 Revival. Alongside new and reimagined songs as well as almost an entirely new English voice cast, Persona 4 Revival adds a number of new features including fully voiced events, Baton Pass returning, a Send Flying mechanic during combat, as well as a visually-stylish Prime Time option that ends with a powerful Series Finale attack by the party.
