Roughly three days ago, coder Swordpdf unveiled PS5SX2: a vibecoded port of the PCSX2 emulator, which allows users to emulate PS2 games on jailbroken PS5s by using physical PlayStation 2 discs. Today, they’ve unveiled RPS5S3, which allows jailbroken PS5s to do exactly the same thing with physical PS3 discs.
Swordpdf showed off the RPS5S3 emulator earlier this morning in a post on X. As you can quite clearly see in the video featured in their post, Swordpdf boots up Gran Turismo 5 after inserting a physical copy of the PS3 game into their PS5’s disc tray.
However, unlike Swordpdf’s previous project, this isn’t currently available for download through GitHub. In fact, it’s not even technically finished, as the latest version of the emulator on the PS5SX2 Discord is titled “RPS5S3 Test Build 3.”
This means that we also don’t have a corroborated list of PS3 titles that work with RPS5S3. Thankfully, we do have some idea of which titles are RPS5S3 compatible, as a post on the PS5SX2 Discord states that Grand Theft Auto IV, God of War: Ascension, LittleBigPlanet, inFamous, and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift are the emulator’s “most played games.”
First PS2 discs. Now PS3 discs.
The PS5 is slowly becoming the PlayStation it should’ve been. 🎮Sony gave us five generations of PlayStation,

As the name might imply, RPS5S3 is seemingly a fork of the RPCS3 emulator, which allows PS3 games to be emulated on PC. While Swordpdf hasn’t outright confirmed this anywhere, and there’s also no GitHub repository to validate this, it’s safe to presume that RPS5S3 is also a Claude-coded venture.
There are two reasons why I think this is safe to assume. For a start, Swordpdf was quite open about using Claude to vibecode PS5SX2, and even listed it as a contributor on its GitHub page. Secondly, the turnaround on this is frankly baffling. PS5SX2 went live on October 9, and RPS5S3’s second test build was published to Swordpdf’s Discord yesterday afternoon.
I probably don’t have to explain why that timeframe implies that some AI-assisted coding went into achieving this, because if porting the RPCS3 emulator to PS5s would have only taken a human two days to achieve… well, they’d have done so well before now.
Likewise, the short turnaround on RPS5S3 marks yet another massive AI-assisted blow to Sony in the past two weeks, as both the PS5 jailbreaking “Relapse” method and the PlayStation 5’s OS being emulated on PC have been linked to advancements in AI-assisted coding. PlayStation’s lawyers must be having one hell of a month, huh?
