A PlayStation game is going to shut down forever come Wednesday, November 25. In the age of live-service games and titles that otherwise have extensive online multiplayer features, it’s a sad reality that various games shutter large portions of their content, or, in the worst scenarios, completely cease to exist. These shutdowns impact nearly all companies with online games, PlayStation included.

Many times it’s third-party publishers that are shutting down games. EA shuts down games on a near-monthly basis, and 2K has its fair share of game shutdowns as well. However, there are times when the console-makers shut down their games, too. Nintendo has shut down various mobile games and even titles like Super Mario Maker, and soon PlayStation will be shutting down one of its PS5 exclusive games.

When is Destruction AllStars Shutting Down?

Come November 25, Destruction AllStars will effectively cease to exist. Destruction AllStars is a PlayStation-published vehicular combat game that originally had a big focus on its online multiplayer component, with live-service elements to boot. Despite the fact that Destruction AllStars was released as a free PS Plus game, it failed to catch on with audiences and earned mixed reviews from critics. Destruction AllStars was delisted and its online multiplayer servers were shut down without warning earlier this year, but those that already had the game were still able to enjoy its single-player content. But starting November 25, that will no longer be possible.

On November 25, Destruction AllStars servers will be totally shut down. When this happens, the Destruction AllStars single-player modes will no longer be accessible, and the game will be dead. It will no longer be possible for anyone interested in Destruction AllStars to play it. While Destruction AllStars wasn’t popular, it’s still extremely disappointing whenever a game is killed like this, and it’s likely to upset some fans. After all, Destruction AllStars took up a PS Plus free game spot, and there may be some that bought some of the in-game currency or even purchased it outright. It’s situations like this that have fueled the Stop Killing Games movement.

Destruction AllStars shutting down is especially disappointing because the PS5 doesn’t really have all that many exclusives as it is. Thanks to Sony porting its games to PC, Destruction AllStars was one of only a handful of PS5 exclusive games on the market, and it will soon be gone forever.

Sony has stopped porting its games to PC and so there should be more PlayStation 5 exclusives released in the months and years ahead. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is one such PS5 exclusive on the way, and we also know that God of War: Laufey will release exclusively for PS5 next year. Those games are single-player adventures, and so fans shouldn’t have to worry about them shutting down forever like is the case with Destruction AllStars. But with Sony continuing to pursue live-service projects, one has to wonder if fans will still be willing to invest after seeing titles like Destruction AllStars and Concord shut down forever.
