PlayStation 4 and 5 owners can currently claim an exclusive set of Resident Evil character avatars for their account. Those wanting to get these Resident Evil avatars will need to act relatively fast, however, as they can only be redeemed up until April 30.
These exclusive Resident Evil PlayStation avatars are being offered as part of Resident Evil‘s 30th anniversary celebrations. The original Resident Evil broke new ground for the survival horror genre when it launched all the way back in 1996. In the three decades since its debut, Resident Evil has spawned 11 mainline entries, four major remakes, over 15 spinoffs/ports, and an array of both CG and live-action movies and TV shows. The franchise’s most recent release, Resident Evil Requiem, received critical acclaim when it hit consoles and PC back in February, with it earning a Top Critic Average of 89 on OpenCritic.

Capcom’s Resident Evil is the definitive horror franchise, but the games are not equally scary. RE7, Village, RE4, and Requiem are top contenders.
PlayStation Users Can Claim Free Resident Evil Avatars Until April 30
As shared by Reddit user Ghastion on the r/residentevil subreddit, Resident Evil fans can currently claim a free set of avatars for their PlayStation account. The sample image used on the official PlayStation webpage to promote these exclusive rewards shows a total of 10 avatars, with five depicting iconic franchise protagonists Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Ada Wong in a unique hand-drawn art style, and another five depicting those same characters as they’re presented in the Resident Evil CG movies.
While claiming these Resident Evil PlayStation avatars is completely free of charge, fans will need to follow a few rather convoluted steps to get them:
- Wishlist or purchase Resident Evil Requiem
- Download the Sony Pictures Core app (found in the media tab on PlayStation 5 home screen or PS Store on PS4)
- Sign up on the campaign website
Following all three of the steps above should grant players a voucher to redeem all 10 Resident Evil avatars. However, fans will need to complete all three steps by 10:59am ET on April 30, as that is when this offer ends. Another important note is that fans won’t receive their voucher code immediately. Instead, vouchers will be sent out via email, PS app notifications, or PS4/PS5 system notifications by late June 2026. The official campaign website also states that voucher delivery could be delayed.

Along with providing instructions on how to redeem these exclusive avatars, the official PlayStation webpage promoting this campaign offers a rather extensive introduction to the Resident Evil franchise as a whole. Newcomers are given an overview of the series’ most important entries and which entries are the best starting points for new fans, the franchise’s key heroes, villains, and monsters are highlighted, and there’s even a small FAQ at the bottom of the page with questions that newcomers may have about jumping into the survival horror series for the first time. The five Resident Evil CG movies also get their own spot on the page, with Sony stating that all of them are available now on the Sony Pictures Core app.
