For many gamers, controllers are as important as the console, with PS5′s DualSense controller being a standout design, making every new release a big deal. From new PS5 controller models to new PS5 colors and designs, there’s always something attractive about picking up a new controller.

That said, it’s arguably the hardest generation to ensure collectors get every new controller and hardware release for the PS5. The PS5 console itself going up in price dramatically is obviously the biggest issue, but the slow move away from physical discs is going to make any collection (or the need for one) feel lacking. Controllers are obviously still a big deal, but even the PS5 is designed to be more modular with custom plates—there are fewer special console editions than ever before, it would seem.

Brand-New PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller Officially Priced at $84.99

PlayStation has officially revealed the DualSense Wireless Controller – Gran Turismo Limited Edition, a new PS5 controller priced at $84.99 in the United States. The design celebrates 30 years of The Real Driving Simulator, combining racing stripes and Gran Turismo-like motorsport-inspired graphics with a textured front plate designed to resemble carbon fiber. The controller brings the visual language of performance cars to the beloved PS5 DualSense controller, giving the anniversary edition a distinct look without abandoning the familiar PS5 controller design.

The limited-edition controller also carries a message from Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Grand Turismo developer Polyphony Digital, who reflected on the series’ original vision and the community that has supported it. In the latest PlayStation Blog, Yamauchi explained that Gran Turismo began with a desire to share the beauty and joy of automobiles, describing the commemorative controller as a celebration of that shared journey. The design’s focus on racing details fits the franchise’s long-running emphasis on the engineering and craftsmanship behind the cars players drive. In his own words,

“Thirty years ago, Gran Turismo began with a vision to share the beauty and joy of the automobile. This commemorative controller celebrates the journey we have shared together, and I am deeply grateful to everyone whose passion continues to inspire us.”

Fans will not have to wait long to try to secure one. Pre-orders for the Gran Turismo Limited Edition DualSense begin on October 22 at 10 AM local time through PlayStation Direct where available and participating retailers in the United States. The controller is scheduled to launch globally starting December 10, although actual retailer pricing may vary.

The controller will also be available in select European markets through PlayStation’s online hardware store, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and several neighboring countries. As a limited-edition PlayStation controller, fans interested in the design may want to keep an eye on pre-orders when they open. For a franchise that has spent three decades celebrating the details of automotive design, the anniversary controller offers Gran Turismo fans a way to bring some of that racing inspiration to their PS5 setup.
