Pokemon breaks a massive world record in the year of the franchise’s 30th anniversary, and it’s thanks to an Eeveelution. 2026 marks 30 years since the release of the first-ever games in the series, Pokemon Red and Green, which came out exclusively in Japan. Later on, they became a worldwide success as Pokemon Red and Blue, soon followed by the Pikachu-led Pokemon Yellow. Though Eevee came out in Gen 1 Pokemon games alongside Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon, it received new evolutions as soon as Gen 2 in the form of Espeon and Umbreon.

More Eeveelutions were added over time, such as Leafeon and Glaceon in Gen 4 and Sylveon in Gen 6, but no new ones since then. Fans are hoping that a new Eeveelution will come with Pokemon Winds and Waves next year, but some early rumors from last year’s TeraLeak have disappointing news. Still, Eevee remains one of the most popular Pokemon of all time alongside its evolutions, and this shows in various games and spin-offs. Recently, for example, an Umbreon Pokemon TCG card was sold at a staggering price.

Pokemon TCG Umbreon Card Officially Sold for $1 Million

pokemon umbreon daisuki club card

A Pokemon TCG card has sold for over $1 million via Alt during an auction, breaking a world record for Umbreon cards and being a massive sale for non-Gold Star cards. This is an Umbreon Legend Promo Daisuki Club card with a PSA of 10, of which only 43 have been recorded to exist. The previous record for an Umbreon card was from a 2001 Neo Discovery 1st Edition Holo Umbreon card graded BGS 10 (Pristine), which sold for $287,857 through another Alt auction. This card had sold for just over $10,000 in the past, so the markup was eye-watering. The card could initially be obtained by Pokemon Daisuki Club members in Japan who had to get at least 7,200 Action Points by being active within the Club for years.

Umbreon has enjoyed a lot of success since it came out, becoming one of the most beloved Eeveelutions in the franchise. One of the most valuable cards in recent sets was a SIR Umbreon Ex card in Pokemon Prismatic Evolutions, the Eevee-dedicated TCG set that became one of the hardest for fans to obtaindue to scalping. Even then, the card only sold for around $4,000 at first, which pales in comparison to the ultra-rare Daisuki Club Umbreon card.

GameRant Quiz

The Legend Promo Daisuki Club Umbreon card was one of the most valuable Pokemon TCG Eeveelution cards, and possibly the rarest, but this new sale also makes it the most expensive. There are even more expensive cards in the game, though, such as the Torchic Gold Star card from EX Team Rocket Returns, which sold for about $2.7 million.

For Eevee fans, a new Pokemon Eeveelution line for Pokemon TCG has been revealed, including special cards and figurines. These are not going to be super easy to get in the US, though, as they are a Japan release for the time being.
