An inspired pasta-themed redesign of Tangela by a Pokemon fan is gaining traction for being clever and cute at the same time. The tasty makeover wouldn’t look out of place alongside other food-themed Pokemon found in the series, either.

The Pokemon series now has over a thousand creatures to encounter, and these days, that includes quite a few variants on existing species. Regional forms, Mega Evolutions, Gigantamax transformations, and Shiny Pokemon all play a role in the series, adding unique twists on Pokemon, including those that have been around from the beginning of the franchise. These different versions also spark creativity in fans, which can lead to unique fan art with imagined Pokemon designs.

Pokemon Fan Designs Incredible New Forms for Jirachi

Some new fan-made Jirachi designs imagine the Wish Pokemon as the stages of a star’s life cycle, and one has an eerie implication to it.

A recent example of this is a piece of work by Reddit user Just-Drawing-Mons, who turns the Grass-type Pokemon Tangela into a a Fairy-type that resembles spaghetti. Tangela and its evolution Tangrowth both received overhauled designs. Tangela retains its overall shape, with the colors of its vines shifting to a white base with a red top, making it look like pasta topped with tomato sauce. A small fork is perched on top of its head, as though the pasta is ready for someone to pick up and eat. Tangrowth, on the other hand, has the same coloring as Tangela, but it’s also sprouted a green mustache that looks like it’s inspired by the leaves of sage or basil. It’s also making a hand gesture similar to those seen in Italian culture.

While these reimaginings would be cute enough on their own, fans are particularly impressed with the Shiny Pokemon variants that Just-Drawing-Mons came up with. The designs are the same, but the red has been replaced with green, likely inspired by pesto, a type of sauce made of pine nuts and basil. Whether Pokemon fans prefer red or green pasta sauce, this Fairy-type redesign would be a fun way for the games to revitalize Tangela’s design.

Pokemon as Food

While there’s plenty of Pokemon in the games and anime that resemble food, there’s also those that have been confirmed to be eaten in the series. Farfetch’d was one of the first described as having this unfortunate distinction from its fellow Pokemon. However, people in the Pokemon world have also reportedly eaten crab Pokemon like Kingler, eaten the tails of Slowpoke, and the fins of Sharpedo. Several other Pokemon have been used as medicine, as well. This isn’t the first time that Tangela has inspired a noodle-themed redesign, with a ramen-themed Tangela looking tasty, too. It and the spaghetti Tangela might be too cute for some fans to want to eat them, though.
