A creative Pokemon fan has come up with two original Mega Evolutions for Darmanitan. Custom designs are common in the beloved Japanese media franchise’s community.

First introduced in Generation 5, Darmanitan is a Fire-type Pokemon that has the appearance of a reddish ape. Darmanitan has no further evolution, but both it and its previous form, Darumaka, have Ice-type regional counterparts that can be found in Galar, which is the setting for the series’ eighth generation Pokemon games. One artist has created fan-made Mega Evolutions for Darmanitan and its Galarian form.

A talented Pokemon fan makes Mega Evolutions for Kalos starters, re-imagining their final evolutions with impressive visuals and original lore.

In a recent post on the Pokemon subreddit, user EliteRobo04 revealed Mega Evolutions for Darmanitan and its Galar-specific form called Mega Darmanitan Z and Mega Darmanitan A, respectively. Mega Darmanitan Z, a Fire/Psychic type, possesses the ability Psychic Surge, and the Ice/Fire-type Mega Darmanitan A has Flash Fire. These two Mega Evolutions are basically fusions of the two Darmanitan types and their Zen Modes, according to EliteRobo04. Darmanitan becomes a Fire/Psychic-type when it enters Zen Mode, while Galarian Darmanitan, which is considered to be among the best Ice-type Pokemon in the series, turns into an Ice/Fire-type.

Aside from making Mega Evolutions for Darmanitan and its Galarian form, EliteRobo04 also recently created cover art for a hypothetical third entry in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games. This so-called Pokemon Viridian featured a mutated Cyclizar that shared design elements with Koraidon and Miraidon as its mascot. Such a game would focus on the story of the respective professors in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Professor Sada and Professor Turo, changing reality by fusing the past and future together with time machines.

Fan-Made Pokemon Mega Evolutions

Like EliteRobo04, other artists have come up with original Mega Evolutions for Pokemon. Another Reddit user, JayBerJabber, created a Mega Evolution for Flygon. While this evolution retains Flygon’s dual Ground/Dragon attributes, it provides the Pokemon with new armor-like pieces on its head, torso, wings, and tail. JayBerJabber also designed a Shiny variant for their Mega Flygon that swapped out the original’s green and red color scheme with yellow and blue.

There are currently 46 species in Pokemon that can Mega Evolve. Charizard and Mewtwo, the latter of whom is one of the strongest Legendary Pokemon based on raw stats, have two Mega forms. Game Freak’s upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A that is slated to be released in 2025 could touch on the origins of Mega Evolutions. The title, with its setting of Lumiose City being based on the real-life capital of France, could also introduce new regional forms.
