A Pokemon fan and artist has designed an impressive Gigantamax form for Shuckle. As one of the biggest media franchises in the world, it’s really no surprise that Pokemon has inspired near-endless fan art. The franchise’s most popular Pokemon are often featured in such art. There is a ton of art featuring Pikachu, Charizard, Mewtwo, and the franchise’s other heavy hitters, though some artists make it a point to include underrepresented Pokemon in their pieces as well.

Shuckle would definitely fit into the category of underrepresented Pokemon. A Bug/Rock-type from the second generation of Pokemon games, Shuckle has no evolution line whatsoever. This means that not only does no Pokemon evolve into Shuckle, but Shuckle is incapable of evolving into anything either. Unfortunately for any fans of Shuckle, this extends to the franchise’s various gimmicks that have been introduced over the years, so Shuckle doesn’t have an official Mega Evolution or Gigantamax form.

One lucky Pokemon player shows off the cute and impressive Shuckle crochet plush doll that their talented mother made for them out of yarn.

While an official version still doesn’t exist, artist Dude0720, who previously created a regional variant for Torkoal, took it upon themselves to create their own take on what a Shuckle Gigantamax form would look like. The jaw-dropping depiction shows a massive version of Shuckle with glowing red eyes and gigantic tentacles. This version of a Shuckle Gigantamax gives the creature serious Lovecraftian monster vibes. With over 5,000 upvotes at the time of this writing, it seems many fans approve of this Shuckle Gigantamax concept.

Pokemon Fan Art Imagines Gigantamax Shuckle

Shuckle remains neglected by The Pokemon Company, but fan art like this shows that there is still room to expand on the creature. A different artist imagined what a Shuckle Mega Evolution might look like, and instead of going the intense monster route, they imagined Shuckle with a helmet and kneepad-like armor, giving them the appearance of a skater. It remains to be seen if Shuckle will ever get an official new form, but if it does, it’s more likely to get a Mega Evolution than a Gigantamax form.

Gigantamaxing is a gameplay gimmick exclusive to Pokemon Sword and Shield and their DLC, while Mega Evolution has popped up more frequently. Mega Evolutions were featured in Pokemon X and Y as well as Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and they are set to make a comeback in the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A. It still seems unlikely that Shuckle will be getting much attention in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but fan art shows that there’s a lot of untapped potential when it comes to the Generation 2 Bug/Rock-type Pokemon.
