A Pokemon fan has made an incredible Mewtwo figure showing him floating in a tube. As the original Legendary Pokemon, Mewtwo has been interpreted in many ways, but this may be among the most lore-accurate ones.
Mewtwo was one of the last Gen 1 Pokemon gamers would catch as it required them to defeat the Pokemon League. Mewtwo would wait in the Cerulean Cave while the player collected all the badges and progressed through the league. Upon reaching Cinnabar Island, players would learn about Mew and Mewtwo, and how the latter was created in a lab. Like in the first Pokemon movie, Team Rocket created Mewtwo in a tube under orders from Giovanni. This Pokemon fan decided to commemorate this stage of Mewtwo’s life in an incredible figure.

Reddit user OH_MY_Xelnaga recently shared four photos of their Mewtwo figure encased in a tube. The Legendary Pokemon is curled up in a fetal position with wires connecting to it and its purple tail wrapped around its body. The Pokemon fan’s first photo shows the Mewtwo in calm water, while the second one shows how it looks in bubbling water. The third image takes things a step further as Mewtwo’s eyes are glowing purple similar to how its eyes glowed just before breaking out of the tube in Pokemon: The First Movie. The final image shows how the figure looks when fully operational, with a similar purple light illuminating the entire pod while the water bubbles.
Because the Mewtwo figure is soaking in water in this creation, OH_MY_Xelnaga has used a thick urethane coating to prevent erosion. There are multiple wires plugged into this Mewtwo figure to power the different effects. The Pokemon fan also stated that the color, brightness, and other effects in the tube can be adjusted with a remote control. According to OH_MY_Xelnaga, they aren’t planning to make replicas of the Mewtwo figure for commissions. For fans of the first Pokemon movie, this figure may be an essential collector’s item, but it could be difficult to replicate. The Reddit user hasn’t detailed the creation process of their figure, which may make it impossible for others to fully recreate it.
As there were multiple Pokemon held in tubes in Pokemon: The First Movie, this idea could be expanded to the clone Pokemon that fought alongside Mewtwo. Because this figure looks so close to Mewtwo in the Pokemon anime, it could seemingly only be improved by having an option to lift Mewtwo’s head.
