An artistic Pokemon fan showed what Mareep would look like if it were an Animal Crossing villager. Known as the “Wool Pokemon,” Mareep is an Electric-type Pokemon that debuted in Generation 2 that takes the form of a fluffy sheep with conical ears and a lightbulb-like tail.
Pokemon and Animal Crossing are known for having memorable characters inspired by animals, and have vibrant worlds they can freely explore. Previously, there have been Pokemon fans who reimagined Pokemon as Animal Crossing villagers, and even built Pokemon Gyms in the game.
Pokemon Fan Redesigns Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur
An artistically talented Pokemon fan is receiving quite a bit of attention for their redesigns of Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur.
One Animal Crossing-inspired fan art to attract people’s attention is by Twitter user beefuwu. In a short clip, she showed Mareep as an Animal Crossing villager, who’s giving the player a “pretty stone.” She also managed to replicate the carefree movements of Animal Crossing characters in Mareep’s animation. The low-poly Mareep model, which was inspired by another artist named Gokuchan’s work, still has its signature fluffy wool, conical ears, and tail, but with a watermelon slice scarf.
In the replies, many Pokemon and Animal Crossing fans loved beefuwu’s work, saying that it looks like an actual Animal Crossing villager. Some were also wishing that both franchises would collaborate for a crossover in the future. With the animated series Pokemon Concierge making waves recently, many players have been requesting a future Pokemon game with the same sim structure as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so they can experience Pokemon Resort for themselves.
Pokemon has been keeping its fans occupied with constant updates on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, including the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk DLCs. Fans have also been playing other titles, like Pokemon Unite, Pokemon GO, and Detective Pikachu 2. While Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ updates have come to an end, players continue to enjoy it. Despite these titles’ continued success and sustained popularity, many players are already looking forward to what’s next for Pokemon and Animal Crossing.
It might take some time for Pokemon to release another mainline game, considering that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were only released in 2022. But for Animal Crossing, it might be time to come out with a new title to follow Animal Crossing: New Horizons. There had been theories that the next Animal Crossing game could be a direct sequel to New Horizons, which Nintendo has done in the past. The challenge for the company is to bring something new to the table, be it new features, events, or characters.
