Pokemon GO announces plans to bring back the Wild Area event for 2026, confirming all the dates and details that players need to know, including special variants and an exclusive debut. Even with 2026 slowly approaching the end of the year, Pokemon GO has plenty of events and activities left for players to look forward to.
It’s an exciting time to be a Pokemon GO player as the mobile title enters the final season of 2026. Twilight Trails is the latest season in Pokemon GO, having started on September 8 and running for 3 months. Scopely has a lot planned over the next few months, with new Community Days, limited-time events, and even some Pokemon making their in-game debuts. Alongside Maschiff, and its evolved form of Mabosstiff, Pokemon GO will also be adding Mega Staraptor and Mega Chandelure, as well as Dynamax versions of Rhyhorn, Sneasel, Sizzlipede, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. Next up, the Wild Area is also making its return in 2026 as well.

- November 6–8: Sendai, Japan and Mexico City, Mexico

Similar to Pokemon GO‘s 2025 Wild Area event, the general idea behind it is to bring people together for in-person events where they can hunt for Pokemon together. The theme for this year is Steel and Dragon-type Pokemon, with even more different pocket monsters appearing in the various locations as well. Players who want to gain a bit more from these events can purchase event tickets either for the Japan and Mexico locations or for the Global session that follows a week later. This purchase includes Special Research to complete, increased chances to spawn shiny Pokemon, as well as additional bonuses.

Kicking off on November 6, two in-person events will begin in Sendai and Mexico City. Using GO Safari Balls, players will be able to catch some debut Pokemon, including the arrival of Dynamax Palkia and Dialga. Three-star raids will feature a Machamp wearing a modern jacket, while Hisuian Sliggoo and Hisuian Goodra are also being made available for the first time and can be encountered in the wild. Finally, mighty Pokemon are also returning to Pokemon GO, with Latios and Latias being featured. There will also be rotating event-themed Pokemon in Dragon and Steel hours as well.
For those who can’t make the trip to Japan or Mexico, the following week will kick off a Global event that any player can take part in. While there’s an event ticket that can be purchased, players can still take part for free as well. In-game bonuses will be active from 10am-6pm local time and include increases to how many raid passes and max particles can be held at one time, mighty Pokemon encounters along routes, a chance to earn GO Safari balls from PokeStops, and more. Certain Pokemon will also have special featured attacks, like Magnet Bomb for Magnezone, Earth Power for Flygon, and Karate Chop for Modern Jacket Machamp.
Players who are hungry for more Pokemon debuts will want to mark down October 2 on their calendar as well. Team GO Rocket returns to Pokemon GO in the Harvest Festival: Taken Over event and, alongside Giovanni’s Shadow Zekrom, players have a chance to find a Shiny Shroodle for the first time. Although Shroodle, and its evolved form of Grafaiai, are already available in Pokemon GO, this is the first time its shiny form will be available, though the event will also have a few additional benefits, like an increased chance to capture Shiny Slugma. Alongside seeing Team GO Rocket members appearing more often, certain 1-star and 3-star raids will also feature Pokemon with a wider range of Attack, Defense, and HP stats.
