Niantic is kicking off the New Year by giving away avatar items in Pokemon GO as part of its ongoing collaboration. The month of January is slated to be a big one for Pokemon GO fans, with a plethora of exciting events all set to unfold in the upcoming days.
The past few weeks have been quite eventful for Pokemon GO players, with the long-running holiday celebration giving players a chance to get tons of rewards and new Pokemon. The recently concluded New Year 2024 event also marked the return of Ultra Beasts such as Buzzwole, Xurkitree, and Pheromosa alongside exclusive costumed-Pokemon such as Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff. With the in-game festivities finally ending and fans eagerly waiting for the first Pokemon GO Community Day of the year to drop, Niantic is all set to greet fans with yet another surprise.
Pokemon GO Players Want a Change Made to One Frustrating Feature
A number of Pokemon GO players take to social media to call for Niantic to remove one frustrating feature from its hit mobile game.

Niantic announced that it is building upon its collaboration with FENDI and FRGMT with the release of new avatar items. The first one is a FENDI x FRGMT x POKEMON hoodie, which can be redeemed through the redemption portal in the Pokemon GO store using the code FENDIxFRGMTxPOKEMON. On top of that, there will be Fendi-sponsored PokeStops available for players as well at various Fendi retail and pop-up locations. Players who spin these Pokemon GO PokeStops will get a hat and a T-shirt.
It is crucial to note that not all FENDI outlets will be a part of this event, and Niantic hasn’t outlined the ones that will feature these sponsored PokeStops. Additionally, the event will kick off on January 4th, 2024, and players have until January 4, 2025, to redeem these items. Some players have also noted that the code wasn’t working for them initially, but restarting Pokemon GO seems to have fixed the issue for them.
While this marks one of Niantic’s biggest collaborations after the Pokemon GO One Piece crossover event, fans were a bit disappointed with the pricing of the previously released items. Notably, the t-shirts cost about $850, while the bags can go up to a whopping $3,980. Over on Reddit, fans have been debating whether there is an actual overlap between Pokemon GO players and people who would spend thousands on designer bags. That being said, players can still make the most of the collaboration by grabbing the in-game items for absolutely free before the promotion expires.
After a test run via an April Fools’ joke on Google Maps, Pokemon GO was released to the public in the summer of 2016. The AR mobile app saw unparalleled success and continues to be one of the largest mobile games in the world, pulling in billions for developer Niantic.
