Pokemon GO players aren’t happy with the reveal of the “Rediscover Kanto” event, as the community feels fatigued with Generation 1. Initially, the event was teased alongside multiple updates and a new way for Pokemon GO players to “rediscover” the popular mobile game.

On April 11, Niantic’s official Twitter account for Pokemon GO teased new updates with the “#RediscoverGO” hashtag. A teaser trailer was released as well, teasing various Generation 1 Pokemon emerging from a gateway into the real world. Speculation surrounding the event continued into April 15, with Niantic revealing the “Rediscover Pokemon GO” series of events. Starting April 17, these events will feature updates to Pokemon GO’s in-game features, including GO Snapshot, the Style Shop, and battle screens. However, fans are unhappy with the Rediscover Kanto event that will begin on April 22.

The Pokemon GO community on Reddit is very unhappy with the new Rediscover Kanto event since many players are tired of seeing Generation 1 Pokemon being promoted by Niantic and The Pokemon Company again. In Frogarazzi’s Reddit post, several users are upset that Pokemon from the Galar and Sinnoh regions are seemingly neglected, while others believe that Niantic is running out of ideas for events. Some players, including user RealBug56, are also considering a break from Pokemon GO when the event arrives. Although a portion of the Pokemon GO community appears to be optimistic about the new event, the overall reaction to the Rediscover Kanto announcement appears to be mostly negative online.

Pokemon GO Players Are Unhappy With Rediscover Kanto Event and Generation 1 Pokemon

Reddit user Tackerman is not thrilled about the new Pokemon GO event as well, posting a meme about discovering Kanto and its Pokemon for a subsequent time. It’s clear that more players will voice their displeasure with the new event on social media in the days to come, leading into the start of the event on April 22. The “Rediscover Your World” event will also be active that same day, but Niantic did not share any more details about its contents and event bonuses.

At the very least, those new to Pokemon GO will have the opportunity to catch Generation 1 Pokemon in the mobile game for the first time. The new updates will introduce improved quality-of-life features as well, so players will experience a more refined version of Pokemon GO that could alleviate some of the problems that the community voiced concerns about in recent months.

In addition, returning players and newcomers may look forward to Pokemon GO Fest 2024, which starts on May 30 in Sendai. Pokemon GO Fest 2024 will also come to Madrid and New York City in June and July. The new events happening between April and July should grant plenty of rewards to those choosing to participate, such as new Pokemon, Poke Balls, and much more.
