The Pokemon franchise’s 30th anniversary has given The Pokemon Company plenty of opportunities to revisit its history, and following the Switch release of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen earlier this year is an announcement for Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver in 2027. While newer games like Pokemon Winds and Waves continue to push the series forward, celebrations like this also give older generations another chance to stand out. Some of Pokemon’s most beloved adventures are now old enough to be considered classics, making anniversary merchandise an easy way for longtime fans to reconnect with them.
The Nintendo DS era is especially important to Pokemon’s history. The system hosted several major releases for the franchise, including games that revisited older regions and brought them to a new generation of players. Among them, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver remain particularly notable, having originally been released for the Nintendo DS in 2009. The Gen 4 remakes aren’t celebrating a 30th anniversary themselves, but their place in the franchise’s history has made them a natural fit for Pokemon’s broader anniversary celebrations.
Celebrate the 30th Anniversary with New Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver Releases
The Pokemon Company has now revealed new Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver collector’s items for the franchise’s 30th anniversary, with two new package-themed pins set to arrive in February 2027. The products are being offered together as an exclusive collector’s set through the Japanese Pokemon Center, with the current listing giving a mid-February 2027 shipping window. More pre-orders are expected to open again ahead of February, meaning Pokemon investors should be sure to cop a set.

The Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver set contains two pins designed as miniature replicas of the original Japanese packaging of these fantastic Nintendo DS games. One recreates the HeartGold package featuring Ho-Oh, while the other is based on SoulSilver and features Lugia. The game logos and Legendary Pokemon are surrounded by a sparkle effect that gives the designs a glossy finish, helping the small collectibles resemble the original packaging more closely. Both pins are sold together rather than as individual products.
The collector’s treatment continues with the pin backs, which are designed to resemble Pokeballs. Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver are also not the first games to receive this treatment, as the collection has previously included pins modeled after the packaging for other major releases, including Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. For fans who consider Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver among the standout RPGs of the Nintendo DS era, the new merchandise offers a small way to celebrate those games without needing another full re-release.
Pokemon‘s 30th anniversary has already produced a steady stream of merchandise and other celebrations centered on the franchise’s extensive history. Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver joining that effort is particularly fitting given how fondly the Nintendo DS remakes are still remembered. Fans who missed the initial presale through the Japanese Pokemon Center will have another opportunity to pick up the two-pin set when it becomes available again, so it’s recommended to bookmark the above page.
